Go into Locked Channels and press the yellow button on the Virgin remote
This both locks the channels AND hides them

Shouldn't be.
When you say from the listings, do you mean if you type the number, or the miniguide/EPG? |

I've done it on several STBs and everytime they do completely disappear (unless you know the channel number). It skips from Sports to Kids IIRC
The official instructions from www.virginmedia.com/pin Hiding Adult channels from the TV guide You can do this the same way as locking channels. If you’d rather Adult channels weren’t listed on the TV Guide, you can hide them by pressing the yellow button on your remote control when in the 'Set Locked Channels' section of the 'Settings' menu. Only thing I can suggest is unhide them, reboot the box and try again It is only the yellow button option that hides them. If you have locked the channels manually, they still show up |

After numerous reboots, and re-hiding,they are hidden. However after a period, they appear again on the mini-epg,despite the settings showing that they are hidden. Any reason, why this is happeningand how to cure it permanently. I've just tried 3 reboots/hiding,yet they are still appearing on the mini-epg. Thanks. Edit:Standard stb |

They hide on the V Box, but on both of our V+ boxes they simply require a pin.
