Apologies if this sort of thing has been covered before - but I've only had my HDR for a couple of weeks.

Using series link to record shows is great, but I've noticed that if I set to record The Bill on ITV the series link seems to only last for each little story. Eg - record the first of a two part story and the second one will record as well, but then the next episode won't.

I think it happens because each has a different name - like "The Bill - <story title>", and when <story title> changes the link is broken. But is there another way to set this up, so that I don't have to re-do the series link each week or even twice a week?

Do other shows do this sort of fragmentation?

Hi trombo if you go to the epg and select the wednesday episode of 'The Bill' press the prompt for a single recording then press the yellow key and then highlight the recording in this list press yellow again to edit and then scroll down to 'repeat' and either press the ok button to toggle through the options or use the left and right cursor buttons to select 'weekly' and then scroll down to the ok option and press ok.

This process will have to be repeated for the thursday airing

However you need to be aware that should ITVs schedule change for any reason the foxsat wont be able to accommodate the adjustment

I must admit that I'm not seeing this problem. What I have found on my box is that the folder in which the episodes are put is given the full name of the first episode to be recorded (i.e. The Bill: Episode Title) but that all subsequent episodes are put in that same folder.

As I understand it (and I'm happy to be corrected) the series link in Freesat works by giving a series a unique number that (as long as the broadcaster correctly associates this with the appropriate episodes) should record all episodes irrespective of the name given in the EPG.

Thanks to both of you - I'd considered looking for a simple timer repeated on the same day of the week every week option, but thought that series link should be cleverer and I should try to use it if possible. Now I know that there is such an option and how to find it!

Tony, I think what you're saying is that it does record the program anyway, even if the title is different. I setup the series link on "The Bill: Title1" and didn't see a red record marker next to the week after's "The Bill: Title 2" in the EPG. That's what made me think it wasn't going to record. Can you confirm if you see a red record icon or not?

I'm at work at the moment so not in a position to check. I'll see if I can get the chance to check this at home this evening. All I know is that I put The Bill in as a series recording before Christmas and it's worked fine ever since.
