Did anyone else agree with Ruthie on Roxanne?

The argument might be that she's putting lots of things in and then adding the headbanger for effect at the end but that its not a story or something that fits with the music or makes much sense. Clare and Suzanne's routines flow to a dramatic end that fits.

I would give her more marks for trying more and trying new and hard things but you could mark it that way.

There's a big question in there about who wrote the routine that way and why. You can't perform a great routine that fits your ability and flows unless someone writes one for you. The chicken and egg problem though is that unless you can do the bits they can't be put together .

Almost anything can be interpreted so that it makes sense. But there's no point unless the interpretation has a good claim to being correct. Ruthie's actual comments make it sound more like she has a personal issue with Roxanne than that she's making a sensible critique of her acting.

To the extent that Roxie's acting actually has the sort of problem you suggest, it's too minor a thing to account Ruthie's marks or her comments.

I suppose that is an argument, but it's not one Ruthie made.

RodneyK I applaud you! Couldn't agree more. I said on Sunday that none of the women are anywhere near last year's standards.

I thought this was hilarious. First she said she was so boring and dull that she watched Daniel throughout her entire routine. And then she forgot her name and called her Zoe. Made me giggle

I have found Roxanne consistenly underwhelming and her performances bordering on forgettable. I agree with Ruthie - there is nothing in Roxanne's performance that is drawing my eye to her. Considering what Ruthie actually said, I can't understand what all the fuss is about.

"This was obviously a routine that suits you, and you enjoyed it, but I have to be totally honest: it's hard this, you just don't do it for me, Zoe. I thought the performance was a little forced at times, but also I tend to end up watching Daniel and this is my problem, because he's so great. I'm obviously in a minority because you're very popular with the viewers..."

So she was saying Roxanne needs to perform more naturally, and needs to add more spark to her performance. I agree on both counts.
