I think Nigel and the article might be referring CE Blu-ray recorders for £200... Those Blu-ray writers for computers have been out for a while. Scan have one from LG (£144) and another from Pioneer (£180).

Reading that piece on Electric Pig, it makes it sounds as if they actually got hold of one of these: "just fell into our grasp."
While the pictures are certainly appreciated, they're actually all taken at the Panasonic Convention, where the models were all on display. It'll be a while before anyone actually gets their hands on one to give it a thorough going over, without a watchful Panasonic eye hovering. The main menu has various options (sorry, I didn't take any pics myself), including one which takes you to the list of recordings that they've show there, and another that starts the familiar Freesat EPG, complete with that annoying genre menu. The Viera cast button will take you to that service's main screen - which of course is going to be one way of accessing online video, but for iPlayer, you'll have to go via Freesat and the interactive services. |
