My box missed recording Sum of all Fears and The Player last night.

Nothing has appeared in the media list but the recordings have gone from the schedule.

I set a timer this morning and the programme recorded OK.

Anyone else have a problem or is my box going faulty?

If you read through the forums, you will see many missed recordings Tern. I've had numerous failed this week and I am considering returning it as I'm so fed up now

I know that people get recordings that fail for a number of reasons and also the infamous 'unknown reason', but these two were unusual, at least in my experience, because the recording simply didn't happen and there was no HD or series link involved.

I've had the box since the day of release and it's been about 98% reliable - it's certainly never done this before.

Sadly, although this thread's been read by 55 people no one can report that they did or did not have the problem.

I suspect a metadata transmission error. I'm certainly very impressed with the general reliability of the box.

I see what you're saying and can't comment on these 2 specific progs. However, I don't think there have been many valid reasons for failed recordings in many cases. Unknown reason seems to be the most popular but I have had progs not recorded and there were no HD or series links involved in many of mine......they just 'didn't happen' as in your case.

I've have a failed recording without a reason/unknown reason report last week. There was 2 schedules running one after the other the first had started to record and then we had a power fluctuation with the lights dipping (a drop-out or Brown-out). when I came to view the recordings the one that was recording at the time of the power interupt completed but reported an unknown failure, but the one that was to follow failed without a report. Unfortunately I don't remember if the outage happened before the box checks the epg 15 mins prior to a recording or if it happened after the 15 minutes but it is something that I shall keep an eye on and just offering this information in case it reminds someone of a similar circumstance.
