There's a difference between 'reason' and 'brow-beat'

If you had answerd my genuine question/concern over the logic expressed by yourself and others here, then maybe I could understand the point you are trying to get across.

However, as that has not happened, I will continue to believe that the Rachel fans and the 'TRUE' Dance fans are still just bitter and resentful over the fact that she did not win the SCD and are just clutching at straws to support a very shaky argument

I have answered your "genuine" question, and nobody who has experience of the thing we're talking about disagreed with me Congratulations. You won me over with your wit and charm.

I've always been happy with a Tom win though, so your decision that I'm bitter is ill-founded.

I have never said YOU are bitter .. I said Rachel fans + true dance fans are clutching at straws and are still bitter at Tom's win.

Your answer did not prove anything I'm afraid ... true fans vote for the dance/true fans voted coz Julian made them laugh til they cry ... having your cake and eating it there.

Both arguments cannot be true - after all, you do only get one vote on the tour don't you?

You won Why don't you smile and enjoy it?

Hard as this may be to believe ... but I'm not after 'winning' - I'm after answers.

I honestly can't understand the argument put forward by some people that Rachel's success on the Tour is proof that she should have won the Series - especially not when the likes of Julian Clary have also had success on the Tour.

The two are contradictory - and either I'm missing something, or those people who make those claims are looking at it with blinkers on

Fortunately I agree with everything Psychosis has said and I don't understand how one can comment on a tour they haven't seen.

Again <sigh> .. I'm not commenting on the tour .. I'm commenting on how some people seem to be using the Tour results to back up a very flaky argument that Rachel should have won the Series

I thought Rachel should have won the series each time I saw the tour. It's not to do with her winning so many nights, it's to do with the fact that she danced so much better than Tom did. Each time I went Tom got bigger cheers than anyone when the celebrities came out, so either none of his fans bothered to vote, or they decided in the course of the evening that they'd prefer to vote for Rachel.

I wasn't going to post again, but I just wanted to say that I agree with you about this point. All three times I went Tom got an absolute roar at the start that gradually diminished over the course of the show... meanwhile Rachel (and sometimes Gethin, Julian or Jill - the runner up) gradually got more applause.

talk about, out of the mouths of babes.......

I'm pleased you got to see the tour Tyler, and enjoyed it so much even tho your (and my) favourites didn't win on the night; that honour I believe went to Gethin ?

I've read through the OP and the subsequent debate; and as I haven't seen the live tour, I'll keep my opinions to myself

Rachel and Vincent were my favourites on the show, and unless Julian ( still love him tho ) Cleary induced hernia inducing comedy entertainment, R&V would in all likelihood had my vote, had I been lucky enough to go to see the tour..

Shock horror, yes I'm one of those awful purists that voted for who I thought was the best dance partnership lol

peace out

People comment that Tom's showdance was better than the other's so he should have won the show but even if Tom had not have pulled out that showdance he would have unfortunately still won. I know that, Tom know's that, (as much as he tries to hide his smugness), Rachel knows that and so did Lisa.

Yes, that is true. People voted for him more than Rachel and Lisa in the semi, even though it was obviously pointless since he was unable to avoid the danceoff, and he also kind of sucked that evening. The showdance was just luck because it validated what would otherwise have been a pretty disappointing result. Just my take on it though.

Yes, it was very noticeable that Tom's support diminished over the evening, and Rachel's and Julian's increased. When I saw the show in Birmingham Julian barely got more than polite applause during the introductions, but by the time the results were announced the whole arena was chanting his name!

That's been my experience also. Just goes to show what a great group of fans SCD has, that they can go into a show with preconceptions, but actually make their minds up and vote based on what they see and what impresses them the most.

I don't think Tom is smug about it - he's just a bloke who loved to dance and again in the live show I wouldn't have voted for Tom had I had my moby with me - my vote would have gone to Jill as my brother's did. I would have been fine with either Rachel or Tom winning the series but I can also testify having been to the live show that Tom knows how to work a crowd in a good way (I quite like Tom and I think if he ever wanted to do it he'd make a great Frank N Furter).

For the true dance fans argument - I'll agree Rachel is more impressive live but Tom can actually dance - hubbie intially didn't like Tom but became a supporter of his because he liked his dancing. That said my brother who is a Rachel surprised by voting for Jill on tour whom he said impressed him slightly more. I think apart from Julian the force of personality didn't really count for as much on tour.

I don't think Tom is smug either. And yes, I do think he can dance (I just think Rachel can dance better than him). I was ecstatic that they were the final 2 in the show, they were my picks from the first episode.

So people are still rattling on about Tom being smug ...?

You may have preferred Rachel as SCD6 champion. Sorry – but most people didn't. Rachel has obviously won some people over on the tour. Fine. I'm pleased for her.

But the judges' determination to override the public vote made sure Rachel reached the final, and she must have known that – and so did Lisa.

Well I've read the whole thread and have to largely agree with Toby_jugg...and I did go to the tour a part of my experience that day was to have 3 girls sitting behind me who were delighted to have voted for R+V over 300 times between them. In fact they were so busy voting I doubt they could have seen much of the show at all

It doesn't take a large amount of people voting like that to obliterate the votes of the more conservatively minded punter

But other people voted a lot for their favourites as well. Someone next to me in one of the shows logged 250 votes for Jill - plus her partner's votes! That didn't even register Jill in the top 2! Others on here have bragged about voting hundreds of times and didn't even get a win or a top 2. I think it's unfair to blame it on that, especially considering there's thousands upon thousands of people in there.

In the Rachel/Tom argument people are forgetting that there were other very popular people from other series there and this will have also been a major factor. One of my friends was a great Tom supporter in series 6 but voted for Gethin on tour because she is a bigger fan of both him and his dancing. So Tom had her vote in the series but lost it on tour because there was someone else she wanted to vote for, maybe Tom's vote was more 'split' than Rachels, and Julians popularity certainly had a big effect. When we talk about 'kicking ass' yes Rachel clocked up an enormous number of wins and second spots (deservedly so in my book although I didnt vote for her on tour) but there may in fact have only been a few votes between them all, as my perception from being in the audience 3 times was that a lot of people didnt vote at all.

I don't doubt you're right Psychosis that lots of people multiple voted for their own faves, but once I'd seen it happening I took the result even less seriously than I did when I arrived for the show tbh It wasn't what I was there for anyway

The show was fabulous, I don't think it be less interesting if it didn't have a winner...

It did have a winner though...US LOT! We saw a lot of the Strictly pro's, some great celebs, the judges (boo hiss!) and we were all ENTERTAINED

Rachel won the tour...good for her Tom won SCD6...good for him Both must have deserved it or neither would have won anything, would they?

I loved the interview Tom and Rachel did together at the very start where he said it was her turn to win! They look so comfortable together.

and yes, I agree... we win

I loved the interview also - but I don't think Tom realised then, what was to come, and just how many shows Rachel would actually win:
