LMAO probably not.

And I just looked for it and I can't find it I think it was posted about three, four, five shows into the tour...

Wait, here we are:

Whatever other impression Rachel or Tom (or any of the others come to that) gave me, neither struck me as being a resentful or spiteful person in any way

LMAO at this thread!

Do you realise that the OP is a Rachel fan and has not posted again since starting the thread?

Did it not occur to anyone when they read the opening post that they might be looking to -

a. Gloat

b. Yank some chains?

They did both imho!

Personally I think it was because she got the sympathy vote

For the record, I voted for Gethin 3 times because he is hot and he danced his Salsa 20 feet away from me.

And Rachel danced her rhumba beautifully but the girl still can't string a sentence together.

Now, this I can follow, understand and empathise with. No contradictions about voting at all.

Even MM's post has merit in that there is a consistency of approach

Nothing wishy-washy about 'best dancers' or 'made us laugh til we cried'

I have no problem at all about who was or wasn't succesful on the tour .. Judges scored, audience voted - best combined score won each night. Just the way it is supposed to be

Yet again, you are antagonistic towards someone who hasn't even posted towards you since.

The judges scores were not a factor on the tour, they were just for guidance, it was purely done on audience vote......doubt if Julian would have won any otherwise.

I think Toby's argument is over 'true dancing'. There is an argument the best dancer should win...then how does Julian count towards that? How can it be argued in one breath 'the best dancer should win', then vote for Julian who technically is nowhere near the best?

Not saying this to be antagonistic - just trying to put forward the point again.

Of course, there are numerous reasons why people vote - for the dancing value, for the comic value, the entertainment value. There's nothing whatsoever bad about that, it's what makes Strictly Come Dancing what it is - people's opinions.

The "best" dancer can never win because it's almost impossible to agree on what makes the best dancer.

So should it be the most technically proficient dancer? Or the most entertaining dancer? Or the one that the experts tell me is the best?

In the meantime I'll just carry on voting for my favourite.

Wasn't meant to be antagonistic. The posters I quoted made valid, direct points of view to show how they voted - and I was commending them on that.

Are you trying to win the "most patronizing" prize, T_J?

I am a dance fan, but am also open minded enough to see that people vote for a range of reasons. I went to the tour because I wanted to see great dancing and I wanted to be entertained : the two aren't mutually exclusive

In fact I voted for 3 people, for 3 different reasons -

Rachel - for her fantastic dancing

Julian - because he made me laugh

Jodie - sympathy vote because she was the only person not to get a top 2 place and, call me an old softie, but I didn't want her to be left out.

Make of that what you will

You can commend them on that without referring to me in a negative and antagonistic way But of course, you're only posting here to start arguments anyway.

As for the Julian/Rachel thing, it's blatantly obvious what I'm saying, but I'll reiterate for the benefit of Fudd, who just jumped in (hello ). Why does everyone think true dance fans can't have a sense of humour? It boggles the mind. Why even try to put Tom/Rachel/Gethin/Jill or even Cherie into the same voting block as Julian? *scratches head* If people vote for any one of Tom/Rachel/Gethin/Jill/Cherie they're voting because they think they were the best dancer - and clearly the majority here thought it was Rachel. If people vote for Julian it's not because they think he's the best dancer, it's because they laughed until they cried. Is that really so hard to grasp the concept of?

The "true dance fans" I refer to aren't robots who can only vote for the person they quantify as pointing the toes to the correct degree.

Back to my original point...

A lot of people voted for Tom on the TV show because they thought he was the adorable hot guy from Holby. On the tour people are less likely to vote for the adorable hot guy because it's more about the dancing and the show as that's what they have paid for. Julian puts on a hell of a show! Rachel puts on a show too, but of a different, more proficient, kind. Julian tops the comedy group, Rachel tops (statistically) the talent group.

Is it really so hard to accept that tour fans might not vote for people because they're the adorable hot guy? That's all my point is. It's that simple.

You talk about me being antagonistic?????

And I will reiterate my point ... I do not have any issue with how anybody votes, I don't have any issue with whatever reason people have for voting.

What I do take exception to, and I am not saying that you do this Psychosis, even though that is what your posts seem to indicate you do, is the dance fans saying that people should vote JUST on the dance (which is why they claim Rachel should have won the series)

What is even more irritating is when people who claim to be dance fans, then throw away the above rule when it suits them, so that they can vote for someone who makes them laugh.

That is what I'm getting at .. yes, people should feel free to vote for whatever reason they choose ... but they should not then try to dictate that their way of voting is the ONLY way everybody should vote, nor should they change that specific reason when it suits

My posts have never indicated that I do and if you're not indicating that I do this, I fail to see why you have to keep arguing with me.

Nobody at all in this thread has tried to "dictate" anything. Two people said they thought Rachel would have been a more worthy winner but otherwise you're making everything out of nothing.

It's late now anyway, and I think I'm going to head off to bed. Have a good night!

Because Rachel & Vincent together are invincible.
Rachel was a good dancer before SCD. Now she's up there with the best.
Really impressive.

Actually that is sad Jodie didn't get at least a second place.

I voted for Tom but not because of the Holby link but because I found him the most entertaining dancer. I think, though cannot be sure, that most people voted for him this way, and not because he was 'fit' or in Holby. (Or am I indealistic? )

Thanks for the rest of the answer though. Guess the Tour and the TV show audience act differently from one another (for the reasons gave already about more diehard fans attending the tour) which makes me wonder...I wonder whether those in the studio audience during the series disagreed with the television audience often? Because things come across differently in a studio/arena to across a TV set?

Oh, and hello to you too.
