Anyone bought Will's single?
Will Young's single is out today. I have bought CD2 which has the most beautiful b-side, a song called "Cry" written by Will with Biff and Jules. There is also an acoustic version of Leave Right Now - just Will and Joseph Ross. Excellent!
The other CD (£1.99) has Ticket to Love on the b-side - a live performance taken from the Exeter gig. Another great song written by Will etc. |

Will's singles are flying off the shelves (to coin a phrase) after some stunning performances on the television lately. It had sold out in Meadowhall, and some of the Oxford Street shops and various other places.

GJP4636, I have both Will's CD's. I had a bit of a problem getting them though, i had to have a good hunt around. Hopefully that's a good sign. It's good to be able to hear the full version of Cry at last. What a great song. Also to hear Ticket To Love bought back great memories of the tour and Exeter. Can't wait till Monday. WAHOOO!!!

I haven't previously bought any of Will's singles or albums, even though I have always preferred Will's voice and style compared to Gareth's (who' s he....
). However, I think this new single is fantastic, and from what I hear the album is supposedly very good too. I haven't got the single yet, but will pop down to the shops to purchase my copy this week. Whitey |

Will's new single is very good much better than anything he released on his 1st album..
But I think I will wait for album as it got a really good write up in the Daily Telegraph. Also heard one of the tracks off his new album and sounded brilliant, very blue-eyed soul. |

Well because TALENTED people are'nt getting a chance to show what they can do because of people like will who get all their songs handed to them on a silver platter even the one that he "wrote" himself . people like will don't care what they do just as long as they are famous, but are in actual fact destroying the music industry.AND THAT IS BACKED BY A LOT OF BANDS/SINGERS |

so what?
Anyway one persons idea of talent is anothers idea of total crap. You cannot take a subjective opinion and make out its an absolute truth. And do you think a lot of the groups and artists you like are only doing it for the love of music?. No, the vast majority of them do it for the fame and the accompanying perks that comes with fame. |

AND THAT IS BACKED BY A LOT OF BANDS/SINGERS Will Young has talent. If it wasn't for Pop Idol he likely may have not made it into the public eye. I don't know what your meter is for talent but I struggle to think of many solo performers who sing consistently live and give superb performances. His new album is distinctly a Will sound. There are influences of other artists, of course, but the album shows Will maturing as an artist in his own right. Horses for courses I guess. Have a listen to Will's album and then come back with a critique rather than the old 'Wah wah Pop Idol ruins the music industry wah wah" shite. This is only one direction in which new music is heading. If that is a major problem then stick to your vinyl 78s

If you want to listen to a quality Soul/Pop artist then listen Remy Shand not the very dull and average Will Young.

and why do you think that is? face it he is not good enough to get picked up by a record label on his own. And what's the deal with the pop idol/ fame academy singers why do they always steal other bands songs or get them written for them Quote:

yep Offspring gave away their last album for nothing over the netand by the way my idea of talented means being able to write your own songs and being able to sing your own songs live not lipsynching like so many so called artists |

No he might have chosen a career in a non-musical job because of the uncertainties of the music business. A man's got to eat after all. And what's the deal with the pop idol/ fame academy singers why do they always steal other bands songs or get them written for them. Is this covers or original material? Covers are done by lots of people. There are two at the top of the charts right now. Original material, well that's different. Big music companies hire writers to write music to be put into a 'pool' of material for their artists to look at. Songs are then tweaked to suit the persons voice or style. Natalie Imbruglia was one of several artists to record 'Torn' for instance. yep Offspring gave away their last album for nothing over the net Are you a fan? All publicity is good publicity. I am sure that their record sales were unaffected by the move. Also, of course they are in it for the money. A proffesional and full-time artist/band has to make music to make money to live. Perhaps Offspring should give all of their royalties to charity too. Then I'll believe that they aren't in it for the money. and by the way my idea of talented means being able to write your own songs and being able to sing your own songs live not lipsynching like so many so called artists You conveniently ignored my comment that Will sings live on every performance. He also writes his own songs don't you know... |

I tired to order the single yesterday from Amazon, but they've sold out already, so it's backordered and won't be available for about a week.
Looks like someone underestimated how popular this release was going to be. Westlife made it to number one last week after selling a little over 42, 000 copies of Mandy (if I remember correctly), but according to Liquid News, Will sold 40,000 copies on the first day -- and would have sold more if the stores hadn't sold out. |

He wants to be respected in the industry and is earning that respect from people such as the legendary Bill Wyman, who is going to work with him. |

But will all of you still defend him and/or others when all we have to buy is manufactured music. a few point that i need to get across 1) i am not having a dig at will personally i just hate all manufactured music 2) i do not want manufactured music to take over from original music 3) i will not rate will or anyone else talented until i have seen him sing his OWN songs (not one but a full set) live in front of 100,000 fans and also do it brilliantly. before anyone else trys to answer this with a smart ass comment look at it my way . Do YOU want the entire music industry manufactured? Quote:

That's your prerogative. Others make their decision based on what they like, not what someone else tells them they should or should not like.Quote:

Isn't 'manufactured' one on many genres that make up the music industry?

no manufactured means the likes of will, he won pi so that's him created and then he is given music to sing and this makes him manufactured
