Anyone got a Pocket Surfer?
Does anyone own a Pocket Surfer? I'm considering buying one for the kids to use. Are they really as good as the reviews say?

there was a thread in C&N the other day. the op was complaining that they only use gprs and are very slow.
at nearly £200 i'd be tempted to look at a netbook, assuming you already have broadband. obviously the cost includes the data package and there is no need to pay for it twice. but i've never used one myself. |

Thank you for the reply. We have a PC and laptop, I was thinking about getting one for the kids to use. It would be handy for them to look up things for homework etc without having to use the laptop or PC.
Thanks for your comments. |

i hear what you're saying. i just think something like these would offer them a whole lot more functionality. with word processing and the like, and use your wifi, and be ~100x faster.

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?...rfer&source=15 The build quality isn't very good, the hinge went on the shop model, and as many have said it is slow. I'd recommend a net book and usb 3g dongle. |

If you can get to a Maplins shop I'd recommend trying one out.

I'd go for a netbook over a pocket surfer as well.
Much more flexible and functional. |
