Humax linking advice

Hi,
I am expecting a humax pvr in the next few days to replace sky+ & sky.
There will be some overlap while sky goes through 30 days notice.
Is there any simple way to link both machines so I can watch my recorded programmes on sky+ and HD on the humax?
thanks
I do not have a dvd recorder to download the sky+ recordings

Assuming you don't have four leads from your quad LNB?, there's no 100% method.

Probably the cheapest way, and as effective as anything else, is to just plug the Humax in when you want to watch something in HD - as there's so little HD on Freesat that shouldn't be too much of a problem. If you do it with just one satellite lead in each, then you would be able to watch Sky+ recordings, whilst recording on the Humax (subject to the usual limitations).

You can't link them as such, but...

The Sky+ box must receive a satellite signal in order to operate - even to watch recorded programmes I believe (others more knowedgable will correct me if I'm wrong.

The Humax can work with one feed and a loopthrough to the second LNB input (see user guide) giving limited recording fuctionality - but probable fine as a temporary measure.

So you could feed one cable to each box allowing you to watch recorded Sky+ programmes and use the new box in a limited fashion.

One issue, the Humax needs both cables connected to do the software update, so you might want to connect both cables to the new box first to get the update, then remove the second cable and re-set up the box as new install (so that it knows you are working with one cable).

When you are ready to use the Humax box only, connect the second cable and do a 'new install' again. This is so that the box knows that you now have two feeds.
