Have you tried the following?
1) Turn off and on again. 2) Turn off and on again at the wall. 3) Factory reset. When you try these, do you get an error message when it boots? I'm hoping that one of these will clear the problem. I fear it may be a disk problem that will be reported when you do the above. |

Just went to watch JR on bbc hd, as its recording, but it just froze, the live picture is still shown, but the box wont respond to any command. Its also immiting a high pitch tone from the speakers. Very strange

![]() Difficult to know what to do. Best option might be to take it back to the retailer for a replacement (if that's not too much hassle). If you want to try and avoid that, you could try giving the box a bit of a shake or gentle(ish) knocks with it switched off so as not to crash the disc when its operating. Nothing that it might not get in transit, but enough to either reseat a connection (or make it fail altogether, at least that would make things clear cut). Problem with this is that, if the problem goes away, you might still be concerned that it will recur in the future. There's been one or two vaguely similar reports a while back and some people have suggested going inside the box and making sure that the connections to the disk are solid. I would be reluctant to recommend that unless you really know what you're doing. Clutching at straws, perhaps, but here's another thought. Are you giving the box enough ventilation? Is the vent for the fan at the back unobstructed? How hot is it to touch? The case of mine doesn't get particularly hot, just a little warm. If you think this might be the cause, I suggest you temporarily move it somewhere where this is clearly not an issue. This would either confirm or eliminate this as the problem. If it is the problem, you could then think about its permanent location. |

thanks for the info.
![]() i know how to change parts in the box, but i will void the warrenty, so if issues continue, I may wait for a SW update or take it back. As for its location, its got loads of room. Serves me right for buying from the first batch LOL |

Maybe not a bad idea, but this doesn't sound like a software bug. If it was, there would be loads of similar reports.
