Billy Connolly only recorded in SD not HD
Any ideas? Hard drive only 14% full. When the recording was scheduled a day in advance there was no offer of recording in HD offered. Checking the i plate for the recording showed the HD icon so I assumed it would be automatic selection. Wrong!
Should this happen again what would be the correct action to ensure the recording wil be in HD? If relevant my ITV region is postcoded as London.

If you think a programme should be in HD, but it is not offered in HD when you try to recorded it, set it to record anyway. Nearer the programme time, check whether the EPG has been updated. The only reliable way is to find the programme in the EPG, press the OK button, confirm cancellation of the recording, then press the OK button again to select it for recording again. If the EPG has been updated you will be offered HD. If you forget to do this, at least you will have the SD recording. The converse situation can be even worse - a programme originally being flagged as being in HD only going out in SD. If you have doubts, it is worth checking nearer the programme time, otherwise you may not get a recording at all, or one of a "not available" caption. |

Worked fine here on series record.
It was also always flagged as HD here, maybe your box got confused for some reason. |

Sussed it!
The problem seems to be me being at the bottom of the learning curve
![]() What I did was to highlight the programme and press the red record button. Seems perfectly logical to me! What I should have done is highlight and press the OK button. Then you are asked the question Series Record, or Single Event. If I had done either of those then I would have got the HD option. Probably an RTFM issue but the (Korean?) software folks got the better of me. Doh! Last edited by germanycalling : 28-02-2009 at 10:11. Reason: speeeling |

It put a smile on my face, thank you , and thanks for letting us know you sussed it. That sort of thing is easily done, usually when you don't read the manual but the HDR is special in this respect.

![]() ITV are a real pain in the ar*e with their non-standard HD access. If I apply padding or manually adjust the end time, then the recording is not offered in HD. If I accept the HD version and a fixed time of 21:00 to 22:00 then ITV bugger up the ending. This week, the programme started a couple of minutes late and the recording began accordingly, but the recording ended at exactly 10pm as it was only 58mins long. Geoff |

You cant win, Ive lost the ends of programs both using max padding and setting it to auto.
Id like for the Humax to wait for the end flag or use the padding if set, whichever is the latter. That way we wont miss anything. We can add max padding and it the program is 30 mins late, it should still record the end. |
