Song Ideas

Seeing as song choices have been pretty crucial so far, I wondered if any of you had any good ideas for next week's contestants, or for contestants who may appear on the wildcard show, or even for your favourites who have made it through, for the future.

When I pick songs, I usually choose very modern ones which I haven't heard on Idol before, which is quite specifici and may be why I can't always think of songs, but when I do I often think my ideas would better suit the contestants than what they or the judges pick for them.

Jasmine should definitely have done Take A Bow (Rihanna), and I could see Matt Giraud doing a Script song if they were known in America. I reckon Mishavonna would've been better off with a song like My Happy Ending by Avril Lavigne than the Train song - although I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised when I actually heard her vocals.

For this week coming, I'd like Arianna to sing Poccketful of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield, it'd be modern and suit her voice and personality. I think Kristen would suit Warwick Avenue by Duffy, she could demonstrate a good vocal and emotional range on it. Although it would have been a good, maybe better choice for Adam too, I wonder if Nathaniel the drama queen could pull off something flamboyant like Grace Kelly by Mika, if he put his own spin on it, like he did Disturbia?

I know that's not everyone, bit everyone will take ages and I'll keep adding as I think of more songs. Hope to hear a few more ideas to add to my own!

It seems most of the time when these ppl choose modern songs they choose songs wrong for their voices and stuff. Jasmine chose Love Song when she should've chosen something by Rihanna. Matt chose Viva La Vida when he should've sung anything r&b related so I don't know but heres my picks...

Lil Rounds - Free Your Mind by En Vogue, this song is a beast and she has the voice for it!

Scott Mcentyre - probably something by John Mayer, I don't know anyother guy with a modern sound that actually fits his style

Junot Joyner - Ordinary People by John Legend, his voice reminds me of John Legend so it could work out

Von Smith - along as he's not shouting anything I'm good

I don't know too much about the other ppl performing next week and these are 4 ones that probably interest me the most going into next week.

Some good ideas there! Lil would do well not to sing another Idol standard, and might imppress me a bit more than she has, she will get through anyway

I did wonder about Stop And Stare by 1Republic for Scott, but not sure how it would sound taking his vision into account, as I can't remember how much sight he has. I've got half the sight I should have, and I could stop and stare, but if he's almost completely blind then he'd find it hard to sing about stopping and staring like he meant it lol!

Jasmine should definitely have done Rihanna. it's the one name which keeps cropping up in the same sentence as hers. Another idea would be Shontelle's T Shirt. I was surprosed by Jasmine's lousy song choice, as she;s usually good at picking songs which suit her, but she might have taken Kara's comments on board, only her comments to Ann Marie rather thanto Jasmine herself lol

Normanick (lol) could actually have got away with Grace Kelly, it's about identity crisis after all! Lol WSpi;d've been better than reprising Dreamgirls lol! I do think he'd have been more suited to America's Got Talent, but he can be quite funny

Contestants who pick any song, modern or otherwise, regardless of whether or not it suits them, should make more effort to make it suit them if they can't/won't pick something else - it's a skill they'll need when the very restrictive theme weeks kick in, and it didn't do David Cook any harm!
