Well it won't be under £200, as no one is likely to be selling it at a loss

Play are cheaper because there's no VAT on it, just have to hope you don't get stung for VAT and import duty.

Most items like this are despatched from partner companies in the UK.

All vat is paid on all play.com purchases.

It is only purchases at playusa.com that can have import duties and their system generates a warning to that fact when such an item is placed in your shopping cart.

I can't see why you'd get stung for VAT or import duty. I don't get stung if I buy DVDs from Play or HMV, who are, I believe, both based in the Channel Islands.

Operating out of the Channel Islands seems to be a way of avoiding VAT charges - I'm all for that! HMG gets enough of my hard-earned as it is. Well done, Play!

I think Automan is correct.

I bought an HD DVD player last year and it was dispatched from the UK so VAT free.

You don't get stung when you buy DVDs or CDs because there's an exemption on VAT and similar charges for low value goods, which is presently £18 as far as I recall.

VAT free, I don't think so.

Pre-order (not available until 30th March) but 5% off if you are an RAC member or with a working voucher code... makes £237.49... but be careful of delivery (see link)...
