Can anyone recommend some proven means of controlling a Humax PVR remotely? I'd be happy with a magic eye solution, RF Remote Extender, whatever. I have already tried a "Smart Eye" from Maplin and a the back channel on a wireless TV Extender. (Both work fine with Sky and FTA receivers.)

(I have a FTA box in the attic, with an RF Output. This allows me feed 4 teresterial channels, plus one "satellite" channel, on existing COAX wiring. I'm replacing the FTA Receiver with the Humax PVR. This is connected via scart to an old VCR, which acts as an RF Modulator.)

I bought the Smart Eye (looks identical to Maplin sure its the same thing) and Smart blaster from these guys http://www.bluedelta.co.uk/remote-control.html. Do you have a "blaster" or are you expecting the HDR to accept remote signals in some other way (I think Sky boxes don't need the blaster as they respond to control signals on the RF connection).

I have the blaster, and a power unit for it. The "eye" looks identical to the one on the bluedelta site. The"blaster" looks like the yoke attached to the SKY signal adapter.

I used it successfully with a number of FTA satellite receivers. I'm wondering whether Freesat uses a different mechanism for the IR signals.

Mistook your post, thought you had tried it and didn't work - smart eye and blaster works great with Humax HDR.

Hi I am using the nikkia HQ 5.8GHZ video sender from maplins "http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=224299" and this is working superb although I am not transmitting to a HD TV the picture is very clear and no problems with interference. Bit pricey but good.
