Hi,

Don't know if this is the EPG data again but my manual recording just went crazy!!

I had to go out last night 1/2 way through grand designs on Channel 4 (new series - building the house from old tyres). So I pressed the red button. I understood for the red button it automaically sets itself to the length of the current programme then stops.

I get up this morning and its recording channel 4. Nothing showing in the schedule. So I go to the media tab and find its still recording grand Designs from Last night - file size is flagged at 766 minutes and rising, and has consumped 2% of my 1TB hard drive by itself!!!!!

I don't think that this is a problem with the PVR. It is a weird problem with the stop/start signals for Grand Designs. There is a well known and long-standing issue with this programme for some reason (search the forum). The programme off signal is usually sent a few minutes early and therefore the end of the programme is missed.
What I now do is schedule a record from the EPG and then manually add another 5 minutes. This results in a recording which consists of Grand Designs and the entire episode of Desperate Housewives that follows.
Why G.D should be different to every other programme is a mystery.

Grand designs has always (well, for a few years at least), started late and run right up to and usually over its allocated slot.

For some reason it actually seems to have more programme material than other 'one hour' programmes and C4 will not forego the 'what's coming next' waffle that pads it out.

The only redeeming thing as far as PVR usage is concerned is that by the time the end gets chopped off all the building has finished and the initial tour of the result is over and you just lose a minute or too of 'talking heads'.

C4 should still get their act together, though.
