We got a junk mail letter through the door on Friday, from a company called Kingston Communications, I meant to ask you lot on Friday about it. I live in Belfast, I've never heard of this outfit. The only telecom companies here are BT and Virgin. I looked in the phone book to try and find them but there was no listing. Is this a ligit company or a windup merchant?

They offered broadband and telephone and reasonable prices, would consider them if they are operating here.

Kingston Communications are operated out of Hull , East Yorkshire.
They sponsor Hull City and own the stadium they play in.

As a company there are very good but I wasnt aware they offered services to your part of the world!

neither was I and according to their website they don't. A map of the "UK" I say "UK" because NI isn't included, on their website they only offer services on their network opposed to BT's as far as Scotland, could they be referring to eclipse internet?

Well it's poor marketing on their part if they don't explain who they are and that they are a new provider in your area (if indeed that's what they are).

It isn't a map of the UK then.

Not strictly correct--the stadium is owned by the local council & was built with money realised from the sale of Kingston shares that the council once owned.

Is it true that many years ago BT was the only UK phone provider except for a small area covered by Kingston Communications ?

Yes, but it wasn't Kingston in those days it was Hull City Council who owned the exchanges before it was privatised.
