Sony A828 Video transfer problem

Hi, my first post so please be gentle!

I just bought a 8gb Sony A828 Walkman from Amazon. Its a fantastic piece of kit but I am having problems transferring video to it. The bundled software (media manager) only transfers audio and you have the option to upgrade to "pro" which apparently converts video files. I have searched this site and found similar problems and posters have suggested various free conversion programs but I have tried these to no avail. Has any one ACTUALLY got one of these and where am I going wrong?? I am thinking of just buying the sony software upgrade but I am worried it might just be something I am doing wrong?? I am wanting to transfer programmes from tv sites, such as bbc i player. i downloaded to my computer using the link for downloading for use on a mobile device and the video is on my desktop......i'm stuck and frustrated.....please HELP!!

sorry for the rambling, like i said, first post.

thanks in advance

hi and thanks for the reply. the bbc encryption might explain the problem i am having but can you recommend any other sites where i can download (free) tv programmes that can be transferred to my player?

thanks for the links to the other threads, i had actually come across those last night but the replies seem to be generic in that people are recommending software that works for them but not necessarily for this media player. i get the feeling that this model/range needs specialist software...or am i barking up the wrong tree??

I'd reckon everything the posters were using in the old thread will work for you too.The only thing about that thread is software has moved on a bit in the last year, once you find out exactly what type of file type it needs then you can get closer to finding an ideal software.

For instance, if every video needs to be an mp4 video file then search only for mp4 software.

I use dvd fabdecrypter and winavi ,both of these can make files for mobile phones and every type of device, but neither of these softwares are free softwares. Both are widely used by people creating videos.

I don't really bother much with downloading tv episodes so i don't know where is best.
