Pre-ordering CDs from Play.com etc
This might be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway, when you pre-order a game from Play.com/Amazon etc you get it on the day of release, is this the same with CDs? There's two albums I want coming out a week today and if I pre-order them from Play or Amazon will they come on the day like it would if it was a game?

If you usually get games on the release date from Play I'd say the same would apply with CDs. I always get my pre-orders delivered on the Monday.
![]() HMV.com, however, is miles better. I get almost all of my pre-orders on the Saturday before the week of release from them. |

Their delivery system is the same for CDs as it is for games, generally.

Okay thanks. I think I'll use HMV then as there's a few CDs on there I want that are cheaper than Play.com. Also, I can't believe the difference in price on HMV.com compared to their in-store prices which are ridiculous sometimes. Also, I can use my student discount card on HMV.
A question though, what's their packaging like? Amazon just throw everything in a cardboard envelope with no bubblewrap or protection at all so the DVDs/books etc are often bashed in unlike Play.com who use good packaging. And now that order is placed I need to stop buying CDs for a while otherwise I'll be bankrupt! |

I've never had problems with Play on pre-ordered CDs. Some you even get early. Not sure if they put it down to administrative mistakes
but it's nice to get them before anyone else

I adore pre ordering stuff on play.com too, usually get most things before the high street shop release.

HMV is a JOKE!!!!
I pre-ordered GTA4 and it came 4 days after the release date !!! My friends use Play.com and they say it's a fantastic, speedy service. |

I ordered three other CDs from HMV earlier (along with the pre-orders) and the three of them have already been posted.

HMV are fantastic with pre-ordered CDs. They nearly always arrives the saturday before and if it doesn't it arrives on the Monday. Although, they are dreadful with non pre-order deliveries. They tell you it's been dispatched yet it still takes about 4 days to arrive
![]() Their postage is ridiculous too. Yeah free delivery is available (and i always take it) but their other option is about £6 for a single CD!!!
