Its 10 years today since she died. I'm quite surprised its kinda gone by without any mention, half expected a piece in one of the papers - a ten year anniversary tribute I guess.

I must say, I think her voice and her songs = the best popular female singer this country has produced.

I'd have to possibly agree on that.

She was simply brilliant. I remember crying when I heard the news (and I don't normally cry over people I've never met, I'm not that soppy!), a true talent that Britain has never been able to replace.

Dusty is my favorite female singer of all time. A track I am particularly fond of was "Going Back", beautiful, meaningful lyrics which she sang to perfection as she did with all her songs.

Her singing talant and the musical interpretation of that orchestra that accompanied her was a combination that makes her records a particular pleasure to listen too. Dusty, to me, was a legend.

That's a beautiful song. There's some nice footage of her here, with that song:

A true legend.

'goin back' is indeed a beautiful track, a cover of the byrds original which is better then the original (not often a cover is).

my other top dusty track would be 'little by little', overlooked by many but i love this motown-esque track.

Since Dusty's death I can never hear 'Going back' without seeing the black horses drawing her coffin, as that's the song they relayed outside the church at her funeral service. (Think it was actually played as her coffin left the church for burial.)
Dusty could do up-tempo with the best of them, but certainly her interpretation of songs such as 'Going back' and 'If you go away' is superb.

Another vote for 'Little by little' as a great Dusty song.

I'm going to admit that I don't care much for the 60's era of music, i'd even go as far to say that i hate it () but for some reason, regardless of that, I can sit and listen to Dusty sing for hours. A truly talanted lady to which nobody can be compared.

I could have written this - she's my favourite and 'Goin' Back' is also my favourite Dusty song - I can hardly bear to listen to it now.

The day she died, I cried my eyes out all evening and went to bed miserable, with my OH trying to console me. Can't believe it's ten years ago.

That's my favourite too...her voice is just sublime.

I also love the little known 'What's It Gonna Be'...a real Northern Soul type stomper.

Very true - that song is so emtional esp the clips of the coffin going down the street and Dusty Goin Back.....we lost a great artiste that day.

Always remember and interview Neil of PSB said when they first met - Dusty had big hair, big purple leather trouser suit and big ciggie and when asked what to call her, she simply took a drag on ciggie, exhaled and said "call me Dusty" with a smirk and twinkle in her eye. Love it.
