Hi All,

Bit of an odd question, but I've been gifted a secondhand CRT TV (21") and although the picture is clear enough, it seems to be missing quite a bit of red in the colours.

Is it fixable, or should I just consign it to the scrap heap?

I assume that the general concensus is to bin it then?

Father-in-laws TV displayed the same symptom before we replaced it. Looks like the tube emissions were down because the tube was on its way out.

Thanks Chris. Looks like it's going to be a nice new LCD one for me then!

Tube is one option, there are various other possibilities as well.

But a 21 inch CRT is effectively worthless, not worth having mended.

Thanks Nigel. I thought this might be the case, but it's always worth getting other peoples opinions.

Well it's a Samsung, not sure of the model to be honest as I only got given it yesterday to replace a portable TV set. I think it's quite old though!

Sounds like the CRT is on the way out, although an adjustment to the red drive could be made. If that fails to do anything, it's not worth repairing - BIN IT!
