went along to celtic park tuesday 25th november
and watched celtic and bayern in a goalless draw.
Celtic top the group and if they win or draw their last
match in Lyon in 2 weeks they' ll be in the last 16!

now just before the match..........................
we were introduced to young hayley westenra
who would be singing 'you'll never walk alone'

giant screens showed a close up of her face
there was a long pause then the music started
hayley's rendition, and that of the supporters,
help to create a truly memorable moment

she has an album out just now called 'pure'
which i and other supporters will buy, but can
we be greedy and ask for hayley's version of
'you'll never walk alone' to be released on cd?

You can get "You'll Never Walk Alone" on her album "My Gift to You" which was released in NZ and Australia and Amazon will supply as an Imported Album.

Hayley Westenra is 16, and is the most amazing singer for her age I've ever heard. And I'm middle aged with teenage kids myself, one girl at Uni studying music. Hayley leaves Charlotte Church (and all the Pop Idols you've ever heard) trailing in her wake.

Although still a classical singer, she has definite inclinations towards pop music and has said recently she aspires musically to be like Celine Dion. Her album Pure is a mixture of "crossover" classics and light pop music but she also did Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" very well. I've never before heard of a *successful* cover of this impossible-to-cover song and she will be releasing it as a single in March. This is when she will be back in the UK for a 2 week tour of 7 venues. Be there!

You MUST visit her International website which is the best one for a chart singer I've ever encountered. It has full length mp3 and video clips of ALL her known TV appearances... and many clips (some pretty long) of ALL her New Zealand (and the UK) albums. And a complete history of news releases and media reports going back 3 years!

Remember the name folks... she will have a number one *pop chart* album and (maybe even the single) in 2004 and will become a millionairess. OK, you've guessed it, I'm a fan!
=============================================

Ooh, ooh, I've JUST discovered THIS:

"Pure" Progress Report 2003 Dec 17th:
1) It is still top of the NZ pop charts, 21 weeks after it's release. TWENTY ONE WEEKS!!!
2) It is now EIGHT TIMES Platinum in NZ.
3) It is still top of the HMV Australian Classical Chart
4) It is still in the top 10 (no. 10) of the Australian top 20 albums.
5) It is still in the UK top 10 (no. 10) three months after it's release.

And she's singing in the ITV Christmas Eve Concert at 23:25, and on Parkinson's Christmas Day special. YES!

And as I said on another thread Pure has got saturation advertising on the television - particularly in the afternoon - presumably when the old folks watch (like me!)
