i have to question the logic of this. the iphone probably has the most capable browser of all the smart phones, and is the most capable of rendering and navigating the normal page.

by coding it in a way that doesn't correctly render on any other smart phone you seem to be directing your resources where they are least needed.

i would have though a far better thing to do would be to create a light weight version of the forums (that addresses the double post issue on my nokia,) or a phone version that works on all smart phones.

It works now. I was typing using .com instead of .co.uk

Thanks for the feedback - I have made some changes to the font sizes and the way they are represented and wondered if things have improved on the N95?

The other comments will take a bit longer to work out.

But thanks for the feedback.

The underlying logic is to try to find a way for people on the move to access our content without having to resize every page. There is still a long way to go but this was our first stab and extending our very basic mobile site into something more useful.

With feedback from users of other smart phones we can work on ensuring a more consistent view.

Thanks - keep the comments and feedback coming.

As there has been some disquiet in the naming of this site I have added http://www.digitalspy.mobi and also been working on the fonts and ability to use different css files for different phones.

The latest CSS file seems to be an improvement on last nights and on the Blackberry Storm emulator we have is a great improvement so feedback on other browsers (along with their user agent and screen shots) would be fantastic.

Have a good weekend.

I have to say, I agree. It seems to be a waste of resources. Digitalspy (full version)looks much better in Opera Mini on almost every handset, or in Safari on the iPhone.

Far better to produce a mobile site without the clutter, as that would work well on all phones for those without smartphones.

I'm loving it. As good as Safari is on my iphone, it is a real pain having to zoom in an out constantly to read the latest news.

Nifty!

Tried it on the N95 8gb and N96, looks great. Brilliant work.

That option is always available this is just another view of the site.

I suppose it is just that we have quite a lot of iPhones in the office

Thanks glad you like it.

If you know how some images would be good to see how it renders

Indeed - this was one of the main reasons for doing this. I love the iPhone but having used Amazon.co.uk a few times I realised that a site that took into account the iphone's limited width would be useful.

Glad you like it.

Can you add a Spywire-type section with all the news?

If we can work out how

Unfortunately not yet found a way to get the software to behave differently depending on the browser....

But we are investigating and researching...

i'm around most of the time. if you should make a change and want some caps pm me or send and email.

Thanks for that - need to do some more research on how best to describe the fonts as they are still too big on the N95.

Seems to be working quite nicely on my Vario 3 (Windows Mobile 6 and standard Pocket IE). The forums is just the normal desktop version though from what I can see. Still have the left hand navigation etc but overall it's a big improvement on the standard mobile site!

Do you mind if I ask why its centered around the iPhone? There are plenty more mobile devices which are more popular than Apple products and to some potential readers it may put them off. Perhaps "mobile.digitalspy.co.uk" could be this version, with "wap.digitalspy.co.uk" being the smaller version, therefore not limiting the user base to iPhone/iPod users.

As for comments, Opera Mini shows the full homepage as default, so there may be an issue with the user-agent, but its designed to show full webpages. It looks good on Pocket IE on my o2 XDA(HTC Artemis (P3300)), less some minor formatting issues probably related to screen resolutions.

We need to update the code that does that to take into account more types of mobile devices. On the list
