Clocks is a work of genius. The rest is fairly indie-by-numbers noodling and utterly, utterly inconsequential. Just another band getting rich off the coattails of Britpop.

Coldplay or cold sore.....not sure which one I find more painful!

I think Coldplay are great, I have got both albums, and for the first time saw them live at Earls Court this year. The gig actually proved to me how talented they are as their performance was superb, and they create such a great atmosphere with the crowd. Coldplay are obviously not everybody's cup of tea, but if indie style of music is your thing then you probably really like them.

RHCP's - I have to admit I only know a few tracks from their older stuff, but I think their last couple of albums have been fanstastic especially their latest "By the Way". Have to say one of my fave tracks is "Road Trippin" from the album "Californication" which is completely different to their usual stuff and is very acoustic. Think I'll have to check out some of their older albums...

They are ok, but not a patch on classic U2, Smiths or their big influence Echo and the Bunnymen.

Yep, they are my favourite band. The music and the lyrics connect with me in a way no other band ever has.

Parachutes is THE album that when I am down, to cheers me up. It's not all happy-clappy, but a true reflection on the way I think. It tells me that things aren't always going to be good, but you can still look forward to the good things and embrace them.

A Rush Of Blood To The Head is a huge step on for them, and contains some classics, although I would have swaped some of the album tracks with some of the B-Sides....

... and talking of B-Sides, I think they are the only band that has produced consistantly excellent B-Sides since Oasis's hayday. One I Love is their Acquiesce, should have been a single.

It really annoys me when people say that Coldplay produce dull, wrist-cutting music, because that person clearly hasn't listened deeply enough. Hell, go see them live at the end of 2004, they will blow you away.

Trouble is with SirUp, it takes two men and a lot of contract signing before something worthwhile rises above the flotsam

From the turn of the century you have the majority of pinacle ivory tinklers on record.

See this threads died out quickly...

It's a shame cause I'm sure there are hundreds of coldplay fans out there I wouldn't say I'm a fan, but there music is not bad...

Coldplay cannot be matched in terms of live excellence by any act around at the moment. Their music has always been amazing, but their general standard of live performance has improved hugely since the Parachutes tour. I have seen them twice in the last year, and the next time cannot come soon enough. It's quite ironic that Echo And The Bunnymen's singer Ian McCulloch supported them for the UK dates earlier this year and put on a totally average and uninspiring show.

Whitey - by far the best Chilis album is Blood Sugar Sex Magik, released 1991

rather annoyingly opted for garbage and spiritualized at glastonbury in 2002 - who was I to know at the time that meanwhile Coldplay were performing the set of their career around the corner? anyway - saw them at the NIA later that year, and they were fantastic.

just bought the dvd - £17 for a 90 show, 40 minute documentary, and 60 minute live cd - not bad really. we may be getting ripped off with cds, but dvds certainly seem to offering great value for money these days.

'tis good isn't it. I like the multi-camera angle bits. Plus you get Amsterdam AND Life is for Living, whereas they seemed to play one or the other during their UK shows.

Agree with that - Coldplay are brilliant.

Have'nt seen them live, and according to their official web site they will not be touring in 2004, due to recording committments.

Will have to make do with the DVD!!
