Hi, I was thinking of getting a new phone before Christmas and I want a phone with a 65,000 colour screen, java support for gaming (not exactly important), camera, be a flip-phone and BE OUT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

I have looked at the Motorola V300, V500, O2X1, Samsung E700, Sony Ericsson Z600, Panasonic X70 and the Samsung V200. However, it seems that some of these may not be out before Christmas and that I may have to wait until January for them to come out!

Sharp GX20! It has a fantastic screen, the best iv seen on a phone, is a flip phone, and has java support. You can take pictures as well as about 17seconds a time for video clips.

I got mine on Daytime 100 for £129.99 from Carphone warehouse, but i think it is now £149.99, best checking the websites.

Out of the others you have said, i do quite like the look of the E700, but i havent heard much about it.

The Sendo M550 has a colour screen and is a flip, no camera (not sure if you want that), can be had for £65-£100 on Virgin and o2.

Sorry guys, I must have forgotten to tell you that I want a phone on PAYG. So therefore, the Sharp GX20i is out of my range.

What does everyone think of the GX10i? I know that it is quite old now, like a year and a half or something but it is still a good phone right? And does anyone know where I can get a Motorola V300 on T-Mobile unlocked and how much for? I can get that phone for £130 or lower but it's on T-Mobile and since I won't be spending over £20 a month, my calls will be so expensive per min.

The gx10i is still a great phone, my friend has one and its a great phone, takes some good pictures and has good features to it for its age. Not as good as the gx20, but its below £200 at least.

Get a SE Z600.

While it isn't the smallest clamshell out there it offers a wealth of features that the others can only dream of. It's got Bluetooth as well as IrDA, and the Infrared port is even completely open unlike that on the E700.

Sony Ericsson Z600

I am a 02 X1 owner and I am pleased contrary to the opinions of most people I think it is a brilliant phone I haven't had the problems that other people have had. I got it on O2's Online 100 contract for free but you can get it on PAYG for £169.00

I would love to get the Sony Ericsson Z600 but it ain't on PAYG yet.

Btw, what do you guys think; on the Vodafone website, they have this offer where you pay £15 a month for Anytime 100 and you get the Sharp GX10i absolutely free. That works out to be £180 for the first year. Can I then cancel my contract after the first 12 months and keep the phone? By doing that, I can get the phone much cheaper than on PAYG and I will have also got some free calls. I think that 100 minutes a month is enough for me because I only call people like 2 or 3 minutes a day.

Personally I would sat eh GX20 followed by the Samsung V200, my O2 X1 camera is only good when it is set to VGA.
