SAGEM PVR play MPEG via USB
My first post on Digitalspy and I feel I'm on the take already, I hope over time to redress this.
Anyhow have been playing with my new PVR a Sagem DTR 64160T, especially interested in pluggin in an external hard drive via the USB socket. This function seems to work a treat having sent recorded programs to the spare 40Gb hardrive and reading them back along with other media files. One thing I was wondering and have attempted with no luck, is to play video files on my TV via the SAGEM. The manual states that files recorded on the SAGEM are in MPEG2 format which seems correct as they play on my PC via VLC(free) software. However I have some AVI files which I have converted to MPEG2 and copied to the harddrive, however once plugged into the SAGEM they are recognised as being there but will not play. It looks like the SAGEM uses an MPEG2 file and an extra file to be able to play MPEG2. My question is does anyone know the format of the secondary file and whether you can create this file alongside your converted MPEG2 to allow the SAGEM to play them. I am guessing that the secondary file is some sort of database/pointer/ini file which the SAGEM reads and refers to the MPEG2 file. Anyhow less rambling, if anyone has any clues/software/ideas then I'd be grateful as I have several copies of the "American Office" in AVI format I'd like to watch on my 32" TV rather than on my small PC monitor. |
