My box has been stuck on standby and will not boot up so i unplugged it and it now does nothing, has anyone else had this problem or any other ideas?

I have only had the box for 3 weeks

Did you have it on a cool, open shelf or have you pizzafied it?
Anyway, it's presumably under warranty so get it back for replacement/repair.

@ Bighibee2000

I have had a similar problem. My box froze on boot up and then after i tried powering it down and backup it came up with a message that the HDD was not formatted and to click on yes to proceed. I had not other option than to go ahead and reformat the HDD.
From then on on every boot up, it cam up with the same message. I eventualy had my box replaced with a new one. The old one had lasted 2 months!

During talking to the "Argos Technical" team they told me to turn the power off by the switch at the rear then to press and hold the power on button for at least 30 seconds whilst then turning the power on by the switch back on at the rear to force a hard reset.
They seemed to think that it would work in the same way as a sky box. It never worked for me, though it may work for you, but I would not hold out much hope.

Good luck

There is plenty of cool air at the back as there is a vent in the wall.

I have tried everything you suggested and it will not boot up so i have lost all my recordings (What a bummer)

I called Martin Dawes who i got it from and they are going to replace it with a new one one Tuesday.
