I am an exams officer in a school and get lots of requests for old results - many people need them for university applications or for proof for potential employees. I would start with your old school if possible - they will have an exams officer there so ask to be put through to them.
Exam boards used to be regional then went national so the old records were split between the main boards, I see you are Yorkshire so its probably OCR you'd need to contact to get records. The exams officer should be able to confirm - they do charge for this though I can't remember off the top of my head how much but its approx £30 per certificate.
Apologies I meant AQA not OCR - I've just had two weeks off for Easter and my brain isn't back in gear yet!!
Exam Boards do not replace lost certificates. You would need to apply for what is called a Certified Statement of Results. This is accepted by universities and employers and is official confirmation of results obtained.
Each of the 3 English Exam Boards AQA, OCR and Edexcel, have information on making such an application on their respective websites. This is also where you will find detials on which Board will actually have your details - particularly useful as many of the old regional exam boards no longer exist (e.g. AEB became part of AQA).
It can cost approximately £30 for each Statement and you would need details of where you sat your exams and which year.

Just to add that having not seen my certificates for over 24 years (didn't seem that important to look after them when I was 16), I recently got a job in the public sector and they wanted to see all of them (and have photocopies). I got copies from the examining board - because I sat them all in one go, I only had to pay for one statement as they were all listed on one.

What has happened to your certificates?
i rather suspect they have been lost.....
I am not sure I ever even had mine? I never remember seeing them? Considering I was 16 and living at home, I suppose that my mum kept them. no idea.
Luckily I have never needed them as my professional qualification is the one that counts.

I really wanted to, especially maths (as I was quite good at it). But ended up going on the Y.T.S
