95% of the music industry don't degrade women or swear in their songs so I don't see this as being newsworthy
Ah but add the I'm a Christian statement and the silly purity ring and the moralistic statements that he is better than most and you have one obnoxious religious prude.
I don't have to state anything , i know the bloke, i know what hes been through .If anything stinks its your attitude
Actually I kind of agree with him. Fine he is a christian but is there any need to make sure everyone know about it.
The show has had atheists, agnostics, Jews, Catholics and so on but haven't rammed that down our throats .
Actually as a Christian I think it will be very hard for him to appear on the show and still follow through the word of God as written in the bible (Not my belief but theirs!)
Lots of people do songs that are degrading to women and don't contain swear, but he is doing the full Christian promotion thing.
He has declared that he is a Christian. (Why do we need to know that?)
He states the thing about degrading women and swearing like he as a Christian is putting himself above others that don't believe in that nonsense
Then adds that he is wearing a purity ring (More of his religion stuffed down our throats) and that he is a virgin.
In short the complete better than normal people god bothering full blown religious nutter, who knows sod all about life as he has never lived any of it because of his religious restrictions.
Have I made it painfully simple enough for everyone? Can you find a silly little get out of that by rewording something or playing silly games pretending not to get it?
The game playing on DS sometimes amazes me (but only sometimes!)
It's not 'shoving beliefs at you'. People in the public eye can express their religious/political/whatever views just like you and I can. If I told you my thoughts on religion; I wouldn't be forcing them on you. It'd just be a statement
Just like Gary Barlow performed at an event for David Cameron, it doesn't mean he's going around screaming at everyone to vote Tory.
Singers come out and say "I'm dating someone" or "I'm gay" or "I believe in this/that," all the time. No one needs to know it, most people are probably indifferent bu still it It was more than likely said in an interview as a throwaway statement and because The X Factor and it's contestants is news, it sells, so they make an article out of it.
What is probably the most common question; young male celebrities are asked? Are you dating? Are you looking for a girlfriend? Tell us about your exes, etc?
At least he has morals and actually RESPECTS women. Not like all men nowadays.
Not like all men ever, surely. Just watch Mad Men to see how much more sexist society was only fifty years ago. Still a long way to go, I know, but the world is so much better than it was.

It doesn't mean he has to be an idiot. There are loads of christian businessmen and women. He's in a business, simples. He should say what he wants. If people can damn well spread hate in people's faces in public, he can easily state his beliefs. He is proud of them, and they do NO ONE any harm in stating so.
You really must stop trying to contradict the obvious and then saying that you are not saying something or other.
Either state your case or you don't have one!
The bloke is a walking advert for religion and it stinks big time!
.....And what's wrong with telling folks you are a Christian....good for him, I hope he's shouting his faith/beliefs from the rooftops!!
If folks like him/his performance, they will vote....if they don't, they won't!! Whatever is said on here aint gonna change the ENTIRE forum's views of Jahmene....End of!!

Not all Christians follow every word of the bible and the word Christian covers a wide variety of faiths and religions.

I agree ..I have no problem with people being whatever religion but if the show are going to use it as a "holier than thou" schtick or it's force fed to people it could irritate (just like when they overdo other's "storylines")
having morals and respecting women isn't solely a Christian thing .....many non Christian's have values too

The the point , his morals and respecting women comes from being brought up correctly , he got into religion at a later age . People who don't know him put 2 + 2 together and come up with 5

Sorry, but being cynical about it, why mention it at all other than to gain publicity? Good that he has principles, and as long as he sticks to them in his mind, brilliant.
Trouble is that in making statements like this you offer yourself as a target - people will be looking for him to transgress now. Better to keep mouth shut.

that's true ...he's obviously been asked about it but the interview does come across as a bit worthy ... perhaps it's the editting
He's trying way too hard to come across as "Mr Nice Guy/ Housewive's Favourite" as far as I'm concerned.
Rather than worrying about the lyrical content of the songs he should be concentrating on not filling them with his useless, over the top, ornamental singing style.
Clever chap - going for the mainstream public vote.
But it could turn alot off too. The first guy out of ALW's any dream will do was a committted christian and explained it all in his VT. God had called him to do Joseph so guess he called him to go out first too!
Actually wasn't Rydian a committed christian but he didn't make any statement about it at the time. I think but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong

Precisely!! He's going for the popular vote in the way he thinks he can get it.

a bit generalistic

so if you're male are you happy to be part of the "all" generalisation then? because that does include you
