People keep saying it's going to be a white Christmas and the met office are not saying anything.

It is very cold then it does warm up which can lead too snow.

    What does that mean?

That they are shooting every odd person that comes in to bet on a white christmas. Bit like decimation.

I am confident to say that next thursday will be decidely wet windy and mild. And that goes for the remainder of the month and into next month as well

Who knows, 10 days to go!

    White or black, who cares?

I like it when it snows properly but on most Christmas's it doesn't snow and I think it's just something you get used to.

It's nice when it snows really heavy, 4 foot would be something!

Ah I see. Well I'm hoping there won't be a White Christmas. Snow is nothing but a nuisance!

It's ridiculously mild here in France. Many Alpine resorts have had hardly any snow at all and are closed as there's nothing to ski on. The forecast for Christmas Eve is temperatures up to 14 degrees with sunny intervals and scattered showers. We also had the second warmest autumn since 1900.

Very unlikely in a mobile Westerly airstream which is still likely to be in place at Christmas.

They're saying that's gonna be the case here in Ireland too, but I don't believe a word of it. I think it's more likely to be mild and wet here. I take any Exacta prediction with a very big pinch of salt.

If it does snow it better all be completely gone by Friday 2nd January as I'm too busy and pregnant for it to be icy and slippery outside! Bah humbug! :-)

The bookies love this time of year, people running in to bet on the non-existent white Christmas in droves, they are probably in league with The Express ... who love to dramatise the weather regularly on their front pages.

OP, the reason the Met aren't saying anything is because they can't predict that far ahead, it's that simple. Do you want them to make it up, like the rags do?
