ITV Cymru Wales HD replaces the existing Central version of ITV HD in Wales.
ITV4 goes nationwide on D3&4 multiplex - all viewers will be able to watch the channel.
ITV3+1 extends Freeview broadcast hours: 1800-0600 (currently it finishes at midnight).

Is the data rate the same as before?
Does this mean CBS drama will be taking the old ITV4 spot or is this where the ITV3 +1 hours are coming from?
Encoding improvements - see here. ITV4 has been testing for a month or so now, so the changes to that mux have already happened.
Also of note is that unlike on ARQB, all the channels on D3&4 are full-resolution 720x576, so ITV4's PQ should technically* improve (good for sport!).
Assuming my math is correct (which it probably isn't)... there's currently free space between 00:00 and 08:00. So even with the extended hours to ITV3+1, ITV4's move opens up a free 24 hour slot.
My math is really wrong. Would help if I didn't blindly assume ITV3+1 was on the same mux to begin with!
Moving The Store (00:00-04:00) and ITV4+1 (04:00-06:00) to ARQB would make sense, given the graveyard space noted above on ARQB. TVX not so much, if only because ITV don't own it.
If such a move occured, that would leave CITV and ITV3+1 in a comfortable timeshare.
How long before "encoder improvements" happen again and they get ITV 3 on there too?
The timing is probably down to the Rugby World Cup. Some of the matches are going to be televised on ITV4 & ITV Wales normally provides its own coverage for the Welsh games.
Probably better than their message when Film 4 moved on to D3&4 when they said 'Film 4 is moving' which would have made little sense to most viewers who still saw Film 4 in exactly the same place with the same number on the EPG.
Looks like finally Calender in HD....I've met Duncan Woods (one of the presenters) a few times and trust me, you don't want to see him in HD
This change happened about 2 weeks ago. Does anyone know the reason why? I find it annoying because I usually watch the Calendar local news programme at 7pm and I am now getting news from the west and north of the region rather than from the south and east.
I suppose to be fair those people who live in Leeds and West Yorkshire will welcome the change.
I thougyht ITV HD was on BBCB (PSB3). I was under the impression the same mux is broadcast across the whole of the Border, Granada, Yorkshire and Tyne Tees areas at the moment. Is that right?
And if you retune what has changed. Can anyone check any changes on Emley Moor or Sheffield transmitters to see what exactly has changed?

A national version is always going to be ahead in the queue over a region.
Id like ITV to get more on air though, the more they do the more likely we are to finally get the HD swap on other platforms such as Freesat and Sky plus, means more incentive to do local news etc in HD too
The message is being broadcast across the ITV regions, it relates to the technical changes outlined at http://www.itv.com/viewerservices.
Yorkshire HD is not part of the changes at this stage.
Interesting development. I supposed it coincided with recent internal changes at the end of July that resulted in the false reporting of a ITV Yorkshire HD launch date. Usually, HD and +1 regions match -
e.g. ITV HD Central West and ITV+1 Central West
and ITV HD Meridian SE and ITV+1 Meridian SE.

While there's been no announcement about ITV Yorkshire HD, it appears that there have been some internal work to prepare for this. (The launch of ITV Yorkshire HD will require the existing BBC Freeview HD multiplex that carries ITV HD to be split between Granada / Border and Yorkshire / Tyne Tees regions, plus the reintroduction of separate advertising 'macro' regions for both sides of the Pennines - currently 'macro' region ads can be bought for the entire north of England served by ITV Granada HD.)
After the change, and a retune, you should be able to get ITV4 on Freeview Lite unless you are currently missing out on ITV1 etc. for some reason.
You will still not get ITV3.
Fortunately there are repeats the next day.
Yes I noticed too. Marvellous that, I pointed out on the Sky and Satellite thread, about two weeks ago would you believe, that it was ITV+1 Yorkshire East, not West and it was corrected. There has been the few rare occasions the West version of Calendar was shown instead (presumably in error, I'm not sure) but the vast majority of the time it has been the East version ever since the launch of ITV+1. Then they go an bloody change it to West after all this time. I must be doomed.
They're the only HD regions that have micro regions as far as I'm aware. Is there a technical reason why the +1 and HD version would have to match, I agree it is interesting that Yorkshire +1 has changed versions suddenly?
If SID 8381 was allocated correctly, the timeshift should have always been the Leeds version.
I have watched Calendar on ITV+1 regularly since ITV+1 began and until about 2 weeks ago when it suddenly changed to the Emley Moor version I have never seen anything other than Calendar East on ITV+1.
I've now set it to record on ITV at 6pm so that I can watch Calendar East as then the news is predominantly from South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire with a few items from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire also included.
