The spin-off of Death in Paradise starts on 24 February at 8pm. Strangely it is followed by the final episode of Season 12 of Death in Paradise. I would have expected it to just replace DiP in the next week.

Funny, I thought the opposite. It didn't look great at all to me.

Never watched Death in Paradise but will watch this as I like both Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton, even though I know them more from their roles in My Family and Not Going Out respectively

I'm looking forward to it, as I liked his DI, and I hope this will be good fun. With some murders. 😁

    Strictly Come Paradise

So what do we know about this series - is the format of the show going to be pretty much the same as Death In Paradise? Should be good if it is.

They missed a trick not going forward for a female spin-off called Beth in Paradise.

When when you see Kris Marshal acting you will realise how bad Ralph Little is

All the DIP actors have been excellent.

The BBC don't spend millions on a production and employ people who can't act.

Beyond Paradise doesn't work as a title after the first episode, does it.

It's a show about a detective working somewhere in the UK

Once you've moved on from knowing that he used to work on a Caribbean island, where's the significance of the title?

Nothing is just a hook to get the DiP fan base watching.

A pretty scenic crime show from the BBC makes sense especially as with an 8pm slot it won't have post watershed content. They are obviously looking at tap the Midsomers Murders fan base both in UK and international sales. So, crime set in a "pretty" rural rather than urban location. Foreigners absolutely lap this up.
Though isn't this show set in Cornwall rather than the Midlands of MM.

Always thought the BBC were crazy to cancel The Coroner another Cornish based crime / legal shows as that always looked "pretty" and helped that Clare Goose is easy on the eye and looks great in her late 40s :) That seemed to be cancelled as the BBC Commissioning Editor changed and the new person didn't like the show.

It is still a fish out of water crime drama just one set in Devon rather than the Caribbean.

It's interesting we've never had a drama set on The Isle of Man, Bergerac was set in Jersey but the Isle of Man never gets any filming opportunities.

Until very recently it seemed like relatively few dramas were set outside of London or Manchester. They still seem to get the lion’s share.

I’m surprised they didn’t pick an island for Beyond Paradise.

I think in terms of story, somewhere like Devon gives them more scope.
