**The Official Celebrity Big Brother 2024 Ratings Thread**

Hi all,

It's that time of year again. And this time after the success of Big Brother's return which officially averaged 1.71m (and well over 2m when ITVX was added), it is time for the return of Celebrity Big Brother. How do you think it will return? I know it is airing on ITV1, but quite frankly I am not expecting much, maybe a launch of 2.3m and then settling under 2 million. This wouldn't be great on ITV1 but anything in the low 1s would have been fantastic for ITV2 if it remained.

Just a bit of a random fact to, is that the Love Island All Stars ratings have been pretty identical to BB's return last year. This makes me think BB will be back on ITV2 later this year, unless CBB does fantastically well on ITV1 that they keep the regular series on there.

Thanks for the thread. I think a successful run on ITV1 would equal a 3m average (which I think is possible to be honest). I'm gonna say 3.2m for launch and an average 2.5-3.0m run. I think even if it does fantastically well they won't move normal BB to ITV1; too much of a stretch for the main channel.

I do think over the next week we need to get a few bigger names in the press to build hype.

Agreed, we will see what happens. They will need to obviously promote it when SNT returns on Saturday as that is the only thing i think could be getting over 4.5m in the next week or so.

Agreed. I have seen the ad on ITV a few times (I like it). Hopefully we get some ITV daytime interviews soon too.

If nothing else, launch should top the 9pm slot.

Any other thoughts? This place seems dead which could mean little interest but the CBB/BB fans seem to be more active in other spaces now (Twitter/X Reddit). The lineup "reveal" certainly caused a lot of discussion over there so It's difficult to predict. I'm going to say 2.8m for launch.

Unpredictable really. Not sure what to expect. All I know it should be somewhere in the 2m-3m range. Anything lower than 2 mil would be a disappointment, anything over 3m would be a hit.

The place always seems dead until the day of launch nowadays. As you said, social media takes most of the discussion for reality now.

I honestly think it’s a mistake putting the series on ITV1, I think it will overnight around 1.5 million.

It would have worked if the line up was better. It's definitely not on par with a usual I'm a Celeb line up, especially when Sharon Osbourne isn't going in from the start.

That would still likely equate to around 3m officials if regular BB catch up figures are to go by which I think would be regarded as a success.

Need to remember how badly ITV has done on weekdays in February bar Trigger Point and Breathtaking to an extent. Breathtaking was the best thing on at 9pm in the past 2/3 weeks on a weeknight getting between 2.1 and 2.5m overnight. And Trigger Point on a Sunday. Obviously Saturday's a strong for ITV but CBB won't air on a Sat.

Lets look at the past week's ratings on ITV1 at 9pm:

    Thurs 22nd- Gymnastics A Culture of Abuse- 800k (6.1%)
    Friday 23rd- England V Austria Women's Friendly- 1.1m (9%)
    Sunday 25th- Trigger Point- 2.5m (17.8%)
    Monday 26th- British Airways Killer- 2.0m (15.7%)
    Tues 27th- Live FA Cup- 1.7m (14.2%)
    Weds 28th- Liverpool Vs Southampton- 1.8m (14.3%)
    Thursday 29th- British Airways Killer 2- 1.4m (10.6%)

It's not like ITV are setting ratings alight on a weekday. At this point anything over a 2m overnight on a weekday might be seen as good.?

Well the promo certainly stepped up tonight. Lots of ads in between SNT and the brits. AJ and Will were on the ITV break bumpers and the top right corner kept popping up with the CBB launch date reminders.

Yep and i believe that one itself was higher than the previous two CBB launched (CBB20 and CBB21).

Then I'm confused as to why ch5 canceled bb in the first place if cbb was actually doing quite well? :/

A bit of interesting official ratings for the highest rated episodes of CBB on channel 5.

Below are the top 5 overall top ratings:

    1. CBB8 launch - 5.27m
    2. CBB13 Final - 3.71m
    3. CBB13 Launch - 3.69m
    4. CBB11 Launch - 3.61m
    5. CBB9 Final- 3.60m

Highest non launch of final ratings:

    1. CBB8 Day 2- 3.37m
    2. CBB13 (Lee's eviction)- 3.23m
    3. CBB15 Day 12- 3.21m

I believe that the CBB15 there was the Sunday highlight show which had the hls of Katie Prices entrance.

Also looking at that CBB13 really was a huge hit. I can see why they extended the series by almost a week during the run.

Do you think there’s a possibility that this could happen here if the show really takes off? Obviously the schedule and reach between ITV and C5 is very different so probably not.

I am more into normal Big Brother then CBB but I think it will pick up when it actually starts

I doubt it because with CBB13 it never happened before or after. I am guessing they had to get permission from the HMs just in case the extension bit into any of their events they had planned on the outside,

I wonder why ITV decided on 18 days rather than 21/22.
Smaller amount of time to pack everything in.

Smaller amount of time to pack everything in.

I've explained this to you already, so I don't know why you're still going on about it.

21 (22 really) days would involve launching on a Friday (a night that tends to rate lower), missing the Saturday (taking away any sort of momentum from a Friday launch), and hoping people will come back on the Sunday. 22 days launching on the Monday would involve missing the Saturday just before the final, again killing any momentum.

A Monday launch gives the potential to build up over the week, get people engaged. The only minor surprise to me is it didn't launch on the Sunday rather than the Monday.

You keep whining about so many minor things, yet you don't apply any logic to anything. Stop whining. It's been the same moans over and over again.

Briefly last night I did wonder why it wasn't starting Sunday night indeed.
    Only cos of potential ratings.
