As a kid through the seventies Star Trek was an absolute treat. The BBC repeated it over and over again as they were always hard up, no complaints from me. So I will happily say congratulations and Happy Birthday to William Shatner. A grand age indeed. Its weird that the show was deemed a flop, struggling to three seasons in the US. And yet the subsequent mass syndication created the legend-and the name and image of Kirk one of the most recognisable all over the world.
Kirk must surely also hold the at that time record for snogging the most aliens. Even if the definition of alien was not much more than a rather attractive earth girl with some slightly more elaborate make up and a Deeley bopper stuck on her head. Never mind. As Bruce Forsyth used to say "fill your boots lad"
Have heard mixed things about him as as a person. He used to hate Nimoy for being more popular on Trek than he was and Doohan, Takei, and Nichols all had problems with him.
I clicked just to make sure he hadn’t died. Usually when I see a celeb’s age in title, it means something bad has happened.
🎂
He died on the Enterprise-B, then again on Veridian III.
This man will always find a way.
I presume that is Generations is it? I was really disappointed with that. They had the chance to mix the casts old and new for what was seemingly the only time. For me it a massive missed chance.
To my knowledge though, all of us find a way in the end.
He wasn't the Star, but did appear in three big movies, "The Brothers Karamazov" (1958() with Yul Bryner and Claire Bloom, "Judgement at Nuremberg"(1961) for which Maximillian Schell won the Best Actor Oscar, with Marlene Dietrich, and Spencer Tracy, and "The Outrage" (1958) with Paul Newman and Claire Bloom.
I'll watch him in pretty much anything. Got one of his music CDs. Actually genuinely like some of his recordings. His 'Mr. Tambourine Man', where he becomes increasingly bewildered and enraged, is quite something.

Another notable film role was "The Intruder" (1962) where he stirs up racial strife in a small southern town. A guilty pleasure of mine is "Kingdom of the Spiders" (1977) where he fights killer tarantulas!

Was that the one where he uses the VCR as an alibi - "Fade In to Murder"? Excellent episode that

With occy as the OP it usually is an obituary.
Well he has been in a few (movies), doesn't that qualify?

There are Star Trek movies, of which he was a star player.
I loved his appearance in that!
