Face of Death videos; some of these are just gory, like the one where the guy was caught having an affair, he lost his balls, and the rest ouch

I have to admit brosing rotten.con and a few other sites, a lot of us did tbh. I think some of the people here are just getting rather sanctamonious about it- we are all natural "rubber neckers"

That one has his picture and the video that was widely released by the press. Editted I think - although I don't think it actually shows his death (which I'm pleased about), just the attack and mainly the attack on his friend.

There's even a crowd of people watching this, and I think it took place in somewhere like Iran/syra

I couldn't remember his name (it was last year) beyond 'Daniel', but I found it through google:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/crime/article/0,,1804956,00.html

That covers it. Daniel Pollen. Completely and utterly senseless. On the video (not included there), they're just standing there, the three attackers see them and just decide to go for it, attack first, rob later. A life was exchanged for sod all.

Scum like that are the nearest I sometimes get to advocating the death penalty, but as i am opposed to it, I think life imprisonment for life would suffice. Unfortunately they will be out within 20 years.

Sorry, the way I read it, it sounded like a woman caught her bloke cheating and lopped his balls off and had a camcorder handy.

I don't agree with the death penalty either. I think that it should always be remembered that criminals are still people, and have been shaped by something - we can blame their bad choices but not ignore the failure of society that constucted the person who made those choices.

Doesn't mean that when I see things like that that I don't feel so incredibly angry that it makes me seriously want revenge upon them though.

I remember a family from a couple of years back who lost their son I think to someone, and yet still didn't want him to die, and actually sort of forgave in a very short time, because they believed in it. I don't think I could be that strong in that sort of situation.

I see what you say, but I think sometimes attibuting blame to socity is misplaced. Someone who can do that to somebody (without even taking the money) would probably do it no matter what their circumstances were. You support the environmental argument, but I think some people basically would be bad no matter what their environment

    It will be Rotten.com

and btw, who are these people who claim that watching this would "mess them up" and leave them "traumatised"- are they seriously so weak that they think that would happen?

you don't get post traumatic stress disorder or whatever from watching a nasty video on the internet. Or is this another example of people exagerrating things? i'm suprised some of the people on here haven't launched compensation claims for their "trauma"

Actually, people can be sickened, shocked and revolted by things they read or see, so much so that they feel upset, sometimes physically sick, and unable to get the image or memory of it out of their mind or get over the emotional upset and impact of it for weeks.

Who are you to decide how people should experience and react to such things or to claim that they exaggerate? Are you the arbiter of how people should be?

They well feel it, but it obviously it shows they have a weak disposition. Paramedics and many other professions see far worse things on a daily basis, and somehow get on with it.

and you dont get ptsd (which some people have described) from watching something on the internet.

Possiblyso, and I'm a big believer in a mixture of nature and nurture shaping us - enviroment making us but from a set stock of potential - but philosophically that still has the same problems for me...if a personality flaw is inate as opposed to environmental I may not blame society, but I'm still not going to brand that person as 'evil', as I don't believe in evil as an actual force (as some people do).

Everything comes from somewhere, every personality is constructed somehow, and is not constructed consciously by a person, and so whereas I believe we have to deal practically with the end result and whatever nasty human being they turn out to be, I don't believe that we should forget that origin or devalue it when it comes to compassion and mercy for even the most contemptable. Of course saying that in theory is very different from being able to live it.

The Faces of Death videos are faked.

There's a series out called Traces of Death which aren't though.

It is nothing to do with a weak disposition. That is just your prejudice. It is more to do with natural instinct and sensitivity that human beings have. Perhaps there is a weakness or a lack in you.

Paramedics and police and suchlike often become queasy and ill at some of the things they witness and have to deal with. That is perfectly normal and natural. It has nothing to do with weakness.

It still doesn't really account for people claiming to suffer from it months afterwards. Most people I know who have watched a nasty video have forgotten about after a few days (and I would hardly say they had a lack of sensitivity); those who watch it and claim to still suffer from the effects months later, have other issues which need to be addressed I suspect.

i must add that I am not denigrating the existence of ptsd, and that people who witness horrible things do suffer it - I am just somewhat sceptical at the claims of those who claim to have been traumatised by watching a nasty video on the internet.
Just reading some of the stuff on here has made me feel decidely queasy.

I could never watch some of these things - I'd never sleep again. Reading about them is bad enough.

    oops wrong quote..

The one I have seen and some others are not faked, unless very good fakes, you could clearly see the guy having his dick chopped of, from start to finish, stretching the penis out and then hacking it of.

No, they don't have 'other issues'. You 'have an issue' with people who differ from you in their sensitivities and reactions to gross or upsetting things. I know plenty of people who couldn't even bear to watch a nasty thing in the first place, and plenty who would be haunted by it, if they did, for a lot longer than a few days. It would be more like weeks or months for many people. There is though, something about people who do watch things like that, or who want to.

Only certain things on Faces of Death are faked.

Traces of Death is very nasty.

Its all real life and having bought the boxset out of curiosity I only watched the first one.

It seemed so bad to be watching people die in the name of entertainment.

The councillors onscreen bullet in the mouth was very bad.

Its no wonder Volume 1 was refused a BBFC certificate and they never bothered with the rest.

Boxset for sale to anyone interested.

    Ever heard of "special effects"?

Cock chopping scenes of a highly convincing nature have been seen in quite a few of the gory Italian Cannibal films

What made you watch it? or just curiosity? I am really curious about them but i dont think i could bring myself to watch. Are they really horrific??

I think a lot of people these day have become desensitised toward violence... but i guess this is still really really horrific.

It's difficult to say, I came across them by accident I was just expecting it to be a quick chop and done, like you see in films but oh no. Much more grusome, it was the sounds that got to me most. Anyway enough about this I will be having sleepless nights again.:(

I didn't want to watch but curiosity got the better of me, thing is gruesome stuff like this happens everyday but we are just shielded from it normally.

Don't let curiosity get the better of you, trust me
