Hi everyone,
As some of you know in the Crisis Support thread know already, my Grandma passed away a few days ago, and i wanted to have a couple of songs which i can suggest to my parents about having played at her funeral. So i was just asking for suggestions really!
The ones i'm concidering at the moment are:
Eva Cassidy - Fields of Gold
Paolo Nutini - Autumn
Israel (Hawaiian guy cant recall his surname!) - Somewhere over the rainbow
Thanks for any further suggestions

But a friend of mine went to the funeral of someone who had a great sense of humour. He didn't want his funeral to be a solemn affair so picked his own songs before he died: one of them was One Foot In the Grave................... Irreverent, no doubt, but everyone left the church with a smile
My first thought was Faith Hill - There You'll Be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmxILVVoRGA since you seemed to be very close to her.
Fields of Gold is beautiful though. Maybe You Raise Me Up - Josh Groban?
Kaycee thats brilliant. I know a few people who want to be cremated to Disco Inferno!
Edit: Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler is another popular one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El-C3w4CYqo
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven."

For some reason I want Waterloo Sunset and We Are The Champions when I pass as I think they're my two favourite songs.
Silly question but if your Grandmother was quite old and was around during the war how about We'll Meet Again, has an appropriate sentiment and might mean something to someone o her age.
Those lyrics are my MSN name at the moment!
Such beautiful words.
Very.
Sorry to hear about your Grandma Flaxseed. x

A lovely country ballad can't go wrong, and the other two are uplifting.
Anyway
I think Tears in Heaven and Fields of Gold are both fab,for a funeral, and Adele Hometown Glory maybe? Best Wishes and all the support you need
Lolly-licker =]
Snap. In fact my wife has already bought it, which is slightly worrying.
Dont feel bad for me
I want you to know
Deep in the cell of my heart
I really want to go
There is another world
There is a better world
Well, there must be
My grandad, earlier this year, had the Hovis advert music (sorry can't think of the name), he was a Newcastle lad.:)
Very sadly a friend of mine lost her son at a very young age and they had S Club7 "Reach for the stars" which was really nice, stopped the tears for a moment:(
I think Tears in Heaven is lovely but is a sad enough song as it is.:(
How old was your Grandmother? Perhaps you could pick a song from her era.
How about

I'm having 'Who let the dogs out' at my funeral - and also a requirement people come wearing colourful casual clothes.
I think it would be kinda more fun
Adding a different flavour to the funeral:)
Always adds a personal touch, rather than a song that people think 'should' be played just because it's a funeral.
I know which song I'd like played, and it definitely isn't Enya or James Blunt.
Eclipse for me.
