When I flew to New York a fortnight ago, shortly after take off from Manchester we flew over a coastal/seaside resort area. At first I thought it may have been Blackpool, but I soon realised it wasn't because there was no tower or piers and the town looked too small.
Just off the coast there was a wind farm in the sea. At first I thought it was Rhyl in North Wales, but when I looked at the in flight map I noticed that we were still over the North West of England, heading out over the sea towards Northern Ireland.
Does anyone know where we flew over? Its been bugging me ever since.

Not all of those listed are operational yet; it looks to me as if the biggest operational one in the north-west of England is off Barrow. It has 30 turbines and is 7km offshore.

Maybe it could have been that one?
Lol, I assumed we'd fly sort of upwards from Manchester and over the Irish sea. Not go back on ourselves if that makes sense?:o
I have no idea what way they fly, I'm usually too scared to look out of the window!
I was convinced at one point that we were flying over the river Mersey and that I could see the Liver buildings.
Ive noticed that Sigurd has posted details of one near Morecambe bay. I suppose it could have been that one, they seemed quite close to the shore.

Yeah that's the one I was talking about.
Barrow is great for a day trip:)
Yes, I think that might be them. I remember pointing them out because there were so many of them. Its amazing what you can see from a plane window.
No this was definatly England because I was following the in flight map. We hadn't yet reached the coast of Ireland.

A big one too, with 90 turbines. I don't think construction has started yet, but I could be wrong.
thought I saw them before off the coast, probably not though
I don't know how far away that is - as the seagull flies - but it can only be something like 30 miles. So I suppose it's hardly surprising that you can see them from here, given that there are 30 of them and they are more than 100 metres tall!
Yeah I think these are the ones I could see too. They were very big and the town nearby was quite small.
