Which new singers do you think will still be around in 10 Years time???
Tina and Cher have been going since the 60s, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys and Kylie since the 80s, Mariah, Britney and Christina since the 90s. Pink and the Sugababes have been going around 10 years too, so which of todays newer singers and bands do you think will stand the test of time? (I struggled to think of any male soloists )

Katy Perry & Lady GaGa, possibly... if Britney & Christina can do it.
Britney/Christina were fresh and grounbreaking for that time which is why there is still an affinity with them whereas Katy Perry/GaGa as much as people like to think that they're so fresh and innovative, they really aren't, they're imitators. I'd rather listen to Santogold, Ladytron, Robots In Disguise, Ladyhawke, Yelle etc than Lady GaGa, theres just more depth.
I bet they will still be huge stars
I'd say Coldplay, Westlife and Oasis are a good bet so long as they don't split up/retire they can just keep doing their thing which has come through various changes in music trends. Beyonce possibly, can't see Mariah still singing in 10 years (she struggles already). Britney will either be like a Madonna figure in 10 years or else a Michael Jackson figure.
I'm always a bit iffy when it comes to those that are part of a "craze". So Duffy, Adele etc. that came in on major critical hype may not last. Much as I like Lady GaGa, she may prove to be a novelty and less important by the time the critical hype has moved on.
definetly will be around in 10 years she is a legend
Coldplay seem to be doing well everywhere in the world so they'll probably be around.
When you think about it most bands (apart from the likes of Girls Aloud who release every year) only release a new album every 2/3 years so they would of only released another 3/4 albums in that time anyway! And they could also fill in some time in the charts by releasing a Greatest Hits album too.
You honestly think that Girls Aloud won't have split up in 10 years time?
And how about Take That as the next Rolling Stones - still to be touring when they're in their sixties.:p
And I can see Will being here too. I hope so anyway!
Agree about Morrison. Absolutely no way about Perry and Gaga, if they're still around after their 'difficult second albums' I'll be surprised.
You can't really predict this stuff accurately. A lot of people would have tipped the Feeling to still be around in 2020, but it's not even certain there's any point in them making a third album.
I think Nelly Furtado has more chance of being a Madonna-type figure, riding various styles of music that come in and out of fashion, I don't like all of her songs, but she has the singing talent to stick around.
Couldn't agree more.
This hype usually surrounds the first 'new' artist to release a single in January, because the media are desperate to find 'The Voice Of...' whatever new year it is.
In 07 it was Mika (and also one of my pet hates Just Jack ), in 08 Adele and 09 Gaga. Adele possibly has half a chance of sticking around, but I'm pretty sure all will be forgotten by the middle of the next decade.
What about bands who aren't that commercially successful, but are loved by their fans?
I don't think Delays will ever have a huge hit, but considering that the nucleus of the band is made up by brothers, I think they will stick around and still be pleasing their fans in 10 years time.
I think people said the same about Madonna.
I could be wrong but Lada Gaga has something about her reminds me of a young madonna.
