Has anyone ever had a Deep Fried Mars Bar

I've lived in Scotland for all of my life (admittedly most of it in Shetland and only 9 on the mainland) but I have never seen anywhere that does a Deep Fried Mars Bar. Indeed I don't know anybody that has eaten one either. I've been to quite a lot of chip shops to have a look (mainly on the East Coast) but have never seen it.

Does this actually exist? Have you had one? Were you sick afterwards? Eating a normal Mars bar is bad enough for me.

the chippy across the road from school used to do them, but that was in blackburn  we had this american dance teacher come over to help us with a competition routine once and he was obsessed with trying them, saying that everyone had told him they were huge in england, majority of us hadnt even heard of them!

The town where I live does them.. (near Liverpool)
you pay 50p and they cover it in batter and do it for you, takes about 10 mins

but they're gorgeous, very sickly though

I've seen them for sale in chip shops. They looked a bit like a turd in batter.

They are gorgeous, but you wouldn't want a whole one.

I have tried them before and there is nothing special about them all it is is just a melted mars bar in batter.

Also tried deep fried Snickers and Twix.

I would recommend it if you haven't tried it but it isn't that special.

It is real. I was pioneered (for want of a better word) by the Carron chippy in Stonehaven.

I've never had one but I have had a deep fried Cream Egg.

    Yum.

But I couldn't have more than one at a time....

I've seen 'em in Glasgow - also deep fried pizza which, imho, is an even greater abhorrance!

I do rather like deep fried haggis & black pudding though - wish they did it down here:D

They were apparently invented in a chip shop down the road from us. But I've never had one or seen one and I don't fancy one either.

Nope, never tried one of these, but was only talking about them the other day and how I want to try one. I know someone who owns a chip shop - maybe I can ask them to throw a bar in and see what it's like? :p

I don't get why anyone would want to mix chocolate and batter

Never, ever seen them for sale in a shop.

BUT, for a wee posh dinner party I made deep fried Bounties a la Jamie Oliver. They were bloody delish but I dread to think how many points they'd have been if I'd translated them to WW-speak.

I'd do it at home with fresh oil.

I don't think I'd want it to be fishy or haggisy tasting.

I never have, but I really want to try one! I'm not really sure about the idea of chocolate and chip shop batter, but could still fancy trying one :)

Just across the road from where I was dragged to church week in week out. What a lovely treat on the way home that would have been!

I think Elvis would have liked them.

His favourite snack was apparently deep fried thick cut bread with lashings of peanut butter, jam and crispy bacon.

That would be getting into the Chips & Salt & Vinegar or Chips and Salt & Sauce debate lol.

We just have S&V Up here.
