I am looking for some suggestions for easy to use radio automation software for training purposes. The software needs to have a simple user interface and be able to easily access existing music in MP3 format stored locally. A streaming facility would be useful but Windows Media Encoder could be used so not essential.
Ideally I am looking for a freeware package that has a couple of palyout channels and a cart wall.
Any ideas and suggestions would be greatfully appreciated.
Cheers!

Nice package, thanks, seen that one and it could do the job but it could prove expensive if a number of licences need to be bought. We have previously evaluated DRS2006 which works well but licence cost to install it across an educatiuonal establishment make it prohibitive.
I am looking for a package that can be installed as part of an HDD image that does not require licencing. Possible?

It's excellent. Only free for non-profit use though.

yes - Zara is a fantastic bit of software, it is running the automation up at NH Sound in Abergavenny (or at least it was when I left there!)
It is simple to use, and has some great features on it
I will try all the suggestions before nominating one for use where I work.
Thanks again.
It won't automate very well - ie for un-assisted autoplayout - and it's not Free, but but for a "live assist" package it's fantastic and very reasonably priced.
Yes, I bought it; no I didn't write it, but I know the bloke who did I'm just a big fan.

It's free, but you have to register on the website.
When I was involved with Hilltown FM DRS 2006 did nothing but crash on the servers and PC's. This was on top of the range PC's at the time and servers. If you look at the users of DRS2006 Hilltown FM is still mentioned despite not existing anymore. Also for some I would say very hard to train them on it and get them up to speed hence why before the 2006 RSL I was involved in the software was changed to software with more ease of use and easier to train people on. My personal favourite is RSPlayer2 but still seems to be no sign of the professional version which would have certainly done the job.
