came back from a long walk thisavo and Alfie has been sick 4 times. He seems fine in himself waggy tail etc.
I know dogs are sick from time to time my first reaction was call the vet but my hubby said I was over reacting.
We stopped at a pub up the road where there were a unch of kids who were ripping a branch of the tree in the garden to threw for my Alfie, Jeremy Kyle decendents sprang to mind so we made our way home.
Do you think it could have been a bit of the tree he chewed on? Also, he does tend to pick up crap on walks but normally drops them when the next intersting thing comes along.
He hasn't drank any water since he was last sick just over and hour ago - his last sick was just clear.
Should I feed him?

I know its very worrying cos they are little and they cant tell you what is wrong. If his tail is still wagging then this is a good sign the thing you should check for is if his gums change colour from healthy pink this is a sign of shock in dogs and indicates that something more could be going on.
Try not to worry I know its difficult x
Keep a close eye on him, and if his mood changes, or he isn't drinking, or if you have any doubts or concerns, give the vets a call, they might be able to advise you over the phone.
Am going to stay up with him tonight ans see how he goes.
Thanks for the advice
Lot's of innocuous things are poisons to dogs -

Last time I took a dog to the emergency vet, he was not only being sick, he was lethargic and refusing fresh chicken - turned out to be a gastro infection cleared very quickly with an anti-biotic injection (and something else - they stuck both forelegs) and follow on meds.
I would suggest phoneing the emergency vet for advice, but if they are anything like mine they will say "If you are concerned bring him down".
What concerns me is a, it is easter - has he got a cooked bone or chocolate? and b, the stick from the pub. He could have a piece in his stomach causing a blockage.
I'm not sure what I'd do if it was me. Either vet now or stay up and see how it goes, probably poaching a chicken breast to see if he'll take it or the broth. If one of my dogs refused fresh chicken I'd probably be straight up the vet:o
Being sick can be a natural reaction to eating something not right. And could be a mild viral infection. But it could be worse things.
I've not been much help have I:o They can be such a worry. Good Luck & hope pup is well again soon:)
Dogs, like humans, can just get a bit ill and run down at times. Try feeding with chicken and rice, might help the pup settle his stomach back down. Don't panic if your pup gets ill from time to time, they have off days and pick up bugs too, normally it's nothing to worry about unless the pup is ill for a prolonged period. Hope pup feels better soon.
Alfie seems ok today and wasn't sick during the night, he slept like a log! Will see how he goes and try him with some chicken & rice later.
I was so worried - thanks for all your help and advice.
A bland easily digestible diet like chicken & rice for a couple of days should do the trick.
((( only putting down cooled boiled water))) then offer him boiled chicken breasts to start with, ...
Ours was soon fine again ... always best to see a vet if they contine to be sick after 24 hours ..
hope this helped
Must of been something he ate when we took him out that day. Took him for walks yesterday and things he would normally pick up he ignored - I think he might have learnt his lesson...
Thanks again for all your advice:)
Also as others have said watch the things your dog gets hold off. Our dog had a terrible time a couple of months back because he got into the shed and ate one of those round fat/seed balls you get for wild birds. His stomach was all swollen and he was leaving blast marks (and I mean blast marks) in the snow. Gruesome.
He's all better now but he was very sheepish for a few days, because they are not stupid (collies especially) and know when they've done something they know they shouldn't have.
We also had a dog when I was a kid who ate a packet of duracell batteries. He was not a happy bunny either, especially with the acid burns in his mouth.
