I was watching CNN and a woman claimed there was an edpidemic of men killing women and that if women killed men at the rate that they were killing women then the government would be performing all kinds of tests on women and the rules and laws and jail sentences would be totally different.
They said they'd be doing all they can to protect men and that they don't do that for women. Instead they tell women it's their fault when they are killed or assualted and that they have to watch what they wear, do, and go. They even brought up the fact that serial killer movies almost always show men killing women aswell.
Do you agree with this? Is there an epidemic? Why don't women kill men at the same rate men kill women?

Yes movies do show serial killers killing women but most serial killers kill women?
Female serial killers are rarer than rocking horse shit and most of the time they are usually accomplices and not the main killers. Unless you have the case of like Beverly Allitt who was just mentally deranged and didn't care whose child she hurt.
I think her point in brining up to the movies was to show that we find entertainment in men killing women rather than wanting to do something to stop these men from doing these things.
I can see the point I mean I do find serial killer thrillers quite enthralling. But I don't think these people can be stopped in the first place. They are like rapists, paedophiles, they just cannot help themselves.
No doubt you have some examples of the PMT defence?
We also have the awful cases of mass rape of female civilians in war zones e.g former Yugoslavia and currently in the DR of Congo. Most men don't, but a large minority do, why? Wish I knew.
I certainly don't find entertainment in men killing women. I do, however, find the police investigations and pursuits of the perpetrators extremely interesting, as I do the motives of the killers concerned.
Are you talking about the Jane Velez-Mitchell show, Emerican Idol? If you are, I think she goes over the top, just for the ratings!
In my opinion and very generally speaking, it is a loss of control/power thing that some men can't handle, which makes men kill women more than the other way around.
Women prefer to kill children (usually their own) instead of men as it's easier for them. The NSPCC doesn't really highlight that mothers are responsible for more violence (40% of it) than fathers or other males- this isn't good for fundraising.
Of course, medical symptoms get invented such as "post partum depression" and "Munchausen syndrom by proxy" and this means the murder statistics are skewed. Instead of jail, women get therapy.
Yeah it was her I think.
which is convenient..since well women don't tend to do well in fights against men:P anyways the claim is sexist. the genders are equal and so there is no difference possible. men are being handled by sexist courts and police leading to more convictions, it is the only way to explain the violence gap!!;) its an inconvenient area for feminists..who claim every gap is based on sexism. clearly there is difference between the sexes, there is a huge gap in violence and incarceration that feminists dont want to deal with. it can imply there are other differences which lead to things like the pay gap based on gender predisposition/ability. clearly male variability is much wider than with women.
You believe it is sexist to acknowledge that men are usually stronger than women? Please tell me I have I misunderstood.
lol. women claim every imbalance is society+sexisms fault. so we might as well blame this one on sexism and society as well. its not a matter of strength, thats the evolutionary psychology take on it, where it wouldn't be a rational strategy for a women to spend her time smashing heads with the guys. but a political/feminist dogma take on things where everything is equal until society and sexism step in.
If you believe there is a group of people called 'women' who all claim the same thing then I would suggest you re-consider both reality and your own understanding of sexism.
Convenient for what? Your post is just a riddle. The fact that men are more murderous and violent than women has nowt to do with sexism, feminism or any other ism. It's just the way it is. Testosterone maybe.
Focusing on one aspect of violence is just looking at a symptom of a more generalised problem.
As far as movies go, horror films are made for men (specifically teenage ones), and the vast majority of them want to look at hot women, so they are filled with hot women. I do think some kinds of movies represent deep-seated misogyny but I don't think they encourage violence and the assumption they do encourage it is just divorcing people from responsibility for violent crimes they themselves choose to do.
I know i shouldnt have done, but i laughed and told her lucky escape it could have been you!
Nah...not at all. Women just do it more suddenly and discretely as oppose to men who make it plain obvious as some cannot cotrol their temper.
Men have more of a build-up than women, but women are just as capable only on a different level as then need to be pushed a bit more.
hear, hear
