Getting ready for tomorrow and we started talking about Christmases in the 70's, which generally involved -
- wearing uncomfortable clothes forced on you by your mum (if you were a kid)
- visiting obscure relatives
- the adults getting hammered...(cinzano, pale ale etc)
- ...usually followed by some form of argument, which would inevitably last for the rest of the year...until next Christmas
In fact, not changed much, has it?!?
Anyone any memories of Christmas family parties/celebrations/fall-outs, crap presents, tv shows, etc from the 20th century's greatest decade?

Then years(and years) later getting the replacement bike. A big red grifter. I was made up following the rusty demise of my trusty GX2000.
That and Hi Karate aftershave.
Can't beat them.
Then waking up on Christmas Day and having presents, something I rarely get since I've been adult.
Not forgetting K-Tel and Victor Kiam of course!

When the last word in cutting edge bedding was Brentford Nylons!:D

Pity.
Ronco albums were always very low volume you had to crank the volume up to hear the songs and Roncos albums got scratched easy!

Ooh and do't forget the candlewick bedspread to go on the top :eek:Proper posh if you had one of those to cover your blankets:D
My candlewick bedspread looked mysteriously like one of my dad's old overcoats.
Come to think of it.................
They showed the '77 Xmas Special on BBC2 earlier and it was much better than any of the tripe they churn out today.
Loved it.

an LP OF WHOEVER WAS IN
Disneyland Annual
Some Matchbox or DINKY Cars
Puzzle or Board Game
This was Christmas 74 (think)
You forgot Eric and Ernie!?!
Anways, the 70s... Scalextric, Top Trumps, Action Man, It's A Knockout on Ice (always won by NL, I seem to recall - they must have been playing 'Total It's A Knockout') and getting frustrated that they were showing a Herbie film on Boxing Day instead of football reports.
Can you imagine 2009's Boxing Day football fixtures getting just grainy news clips with no Match of the Day coverage?
They showed a Christmas special Dad's Army from 1976, last night, which I don't think I've ever seen before.
who remembers this advert? What do you think of it?
