are the masoods bbcs idea of a positive image of muslims. for example the gay storyline, zainab and shabnam not wearing headscarves, and most recently the masoods singing carols in the square christmas night! that is outrageous and the actors involved should have refused to sing hymns.
i did not notice anyone else in the square fasting with the masoods during ramadan and i dont recall anyone wishing eid mubark to them. this is a mockery and just bbc islam, not the real islam.

definately more issues then a normal muslim family would have to deal with .. but not insultive .. it is a soap
Not every muslim wears a scarf on there head and singing of carols doesnt make a insult... we believe in jesus just not the son of god.. carols are just carols
The gay storyline is a social issue .. and its being handled appropriately ...
what makes you say its insultive ... there is a point of taking PC correctiveness to far.
Not everyone of my non muslim friends wish me Happy Eid, there not insulting me. Same as i dont wish all my friends merry christmas
As for singing Christmas carols - muslims believe in Jesus and all the other prophets - so why not? So long as they don't sing the lines about Jesus being the "Son of God" then it is ok.
And as for people not going around wishing them a Happy Eid - the UK is officially a Christian country so why should they? If a Catholic went to live in Jordan would people be going up to them wishing them a Happy Christmas. I agree it would be nice, especially if your friends attempt to recognise it but its nothing major.
Gay Muslims do exist (there were loads of them at a gay pride event I attended once) and not all Muslim women wear the head scalf, certainly not the mother of my Muslim mate.
It's about time the media re-addressed the balance instead of portraying this faith so one-dimensionally (and negatively).
The claim I refute is that it is a realistic representation of a Muslim family. Realism denotes normality, accuracy. Engaging in homosexual relations is not the social norm for Muslim men to follow.
Ok You've said what is wrong, But you havent said how things should be. What Storylines should they have? Bearing in mind you cant Preach Religion to the TV Audience.
What IS the real Islam?
muslims believe in jesus and prophets, just not him being the son of god. i know many people who are not christian; but celebrate cjristmas by giving out cards and presents. nothing on a soap is realistic. there is at least one murder every year but is there a murder on your street every year?
Everyone is the same to me.....................we are all as one !!
So what you saying, there are no gay muslims in England who go against their religion ?
Next you'll be saying priests ain't paedophiles because god says it's a sin
Hmm... typical PC response.
Priests are not Paedophiles, some are, the vast majority are not.
no way did i think anyone would agree with me, i am not that naive. if the bbc like to court controversy then forget about the headscarves and put zainab and the returning shabnam in burqas - or have the police break down their door at 6 am. now that would be saying something
A Cillay has said this several times now and has never come back to back it up.
Of course gay muslims exist and of course gay muslims have gay sex. Anyone who says otherwise is obviously living with the Walton's.
A simple google web search and you will find plently of sites for gay muslims. So to say they don't exist or don't even go against their religion is offensive and misguided.
I read this and had to reply ... and now am late as am meant to be going out lol
Treating Christmas with Respect
by Abdul Malik Mujahid
Christmas is an annual Christian religious holiday commemorating the birth of Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him. For many Muslims who even do not celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, it becomes an issue of what stand they should take.
There have been a number of legitimate criticisms of the holiday from Muslims and non-Muslims based on theological and cultural considerations. However, this cannot be used to disregard the holiday as merely an exercise in ancient pagan practices, for instance, or excessive consumerism. Muslims have to remember that for practicing Christians, Christmas really is about Jesus.
Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was so accommodating of Christians that according to the two earliest Islamic historians, Ibn e Saad and Ibn Hisham, the Prophet even allowed a delegation of 60 Byzantine Christians from Najran in Yemen to worship in his own mosque in Madinah. Lead by their bishop (Usquf), they had come to discuss a number of issues with him. When time of their prayer came, they asked the Prophet's permission to perform this in the mosque. He answered, "conduct your service here in the mosque. It is a place consecrated to God."
God expects us to stay away from mocking the religious beliefs of others, no matter how much we disagree with them. He says in the Quran: "And insult not those whom they (disbelievers) worship besides God, lest they insult God wrongfully without knowledge. Thus We have made fair-seeming to each people its own doings; then to their Lord is their return and He shall then inform them of all that they used to do" (Quran, 6:108).
Says more about you when rather than looking at them as characters, you look at them as a representation of an entire race/religion.
So in a way the BBC might know this Haram fact about singing because they know the gay storyline would be controversial as well.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against gays or singing or anything, just giving you the facts here . Very random thing I need to point out too, Muslim kids have probably sang carols before or like myself, I've sang some carols but that's because I was meant to in the school I attended at. Not all schools do that however, I only know that the school I used to attend made everyone sing, including Muslims.
You are talking complete rubbish, it's a soap deary!!
Thats not true Religion doesn't divide, its peoples intolerance, lack of knowledge.. if it wasn't religion humans would fight over land, skin colour, heritage .. you name it
agree
and to be honest its a soap ... lucas mass murdering does make all priest mass murders ...
The Masood's aren't defined by their religion just like the Jackson's, Slater's or Mitchell's aren't defined by theirs. The Masood's are characters and people in their own right before they are Muslims just like many of my friends who regard themselves as Muslim but that's just a small part of them, not the entire person.
Yes there are more issues facing than the Masood's than your regular family but it's not entirely unheard of and may actually be more common than you'd like to believe. There's adultery, sexuality and many other issues but the same goes for the Mitchell's who are Christian but you don't hear many people claiming they are making a mockery of Christianity do you?
Whoa, they're not. Man I had no idea, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
