Carl King was responsable for 1 death, His Dads, Paul Marsden was an accedent he fell simple as, Matthew died trying to Kill Carl, He Jumped out the way and Matthew Crashed and went through the window , That does not make him responsable,
And Grace Got run down, aledgedly arranged by Matthew, again not Carls fault, he is responsable for one death;)
Paul Robinson killed Gus and burnt down the entire Lassiters complex and got away with it when he later confessed. Not enough evidence was the reason I think.
In River City, Heather killed Marcus (played by Stefan Dennis lol) but in court, Joanne Rossi (who hated Marcus after he raped her mother, then had a few public fights with Heather over Marcus and how he deserved to die etc etc) was given immunity in court by the prosecution because she had found Marcus's body just after Heather left him in his office, but instead of giving evidence against Heather, Jo admitted to the murder herself, Heather was let off and because it was said with immunity Jo couldn't be trialled for the murder, so Heather got away with the murder. The public fights post death were all staged by the pair, Jo was thankful Heather had killed the evil doctor and they had buried the hatchet and concocted their (quite brilliant) plan. Definitely the best court case I've ever seen on a UK Soap, made all the better since there were no spoilers at the time because noone was really interested in it lol
Steve Owen got away with killing Saskia in Eastenders. I know it was an accident, but he still got found not guilty and it all got blamed on Matthew who got found guilty.
God i loved that storyline!
Exactly! Janine's actions regarding Barry, are no different to Lucas' actions regarding Trina. But some people are too biased to see that.
It may have been an accident and she didnt actually set out to do it but she still pushed him and caused his death. She also watched him to die and made no effort to help then lied to the police.

I'm fed up of people defending Janine in this situation. She pushed him, causing him to fall, hence she killed him, exactly as she admitted to Pat and Ricky all those years ago ("I killed Barry"). Lucas also shoved Trina into the rake, hence he killed her. Causing a death accidentally is still killing someone. In fact, neither Janine nor Lucas could even be done for manslaughter, it's be murder, as some accidental deaths are still classed.

Totally agree with this post this is what ive been saying as well.

it was never ocnfirmed if matthew arranged it so we just have to assume it was an accident

If both of them had been sensible and called the police and ambulance at once they could have got off on a manslaughter charge. It was the act of doing nothing to help the person survive that makes it murder, not the act of pushing them away without intending to kill them.
Its only MURDER if you INTENDED to kill them (Mens Rea) or injure them so severely that death would occur and you actually carried out the ACT that lead to the death/injury (Actus Reus).
If something is an ACCIDENT then it can't be INTENTIONAL, therefore its not Murder.
Grant and Phil got away with murder didn't they? You know in the woods near Ruby and her Dads house in the countryside?
They were involved but they didnt kill Danny it was his brother Jake who shot him. Therefore Jake got away with murder as the body has never been discovered. However I think Jake was killed a few months later by Johnny's henchmen.

Thanks for clearing that up - I'd forgotten who'd done what to who in the end!

Exactly and being responsible for someone's death or killing someone is not the same as murdering them
Carl may have killed his father but not sure he had sufficent mens rea for it to have been murder- at worst it was probably manslaughter- in fact a lot of the examples on this thread aren't murder-
Richard Hillman was guilty of murder- clear distinction
Paul Marsden's death was entirely accidental, Matthew's death was his own fault and while somebody might have deliberately mowed down Grace- it wasn't Carl
Phil Miltchell started a fire at the car lot in EE, and a tramp sleeping in one of the cars died. That would be manslaughter wouldn`t it?
Sean Tully murders every scene he`s involved with - that`s a crime too!

Make no mistake, I do agree with you, and this is what I was saying, just you've taken it the wrong way.
I've noticed a lot people defending Lucas' actions where Trina is concerned, while others have brandished Janine a murderer, and I just wanted to redress the balance and point out that they are *both the same*. Granted, Lucas is bordering on psychotic, and Janine is simply messed up, but the context is the same: both are killers.

Carl King is responsible for a few deaths but definitely murdered his father.
Lots of people in pps who killed and didn't go down for it seem to have died themselves...Katy Harris CS, Dennis EE, Warren HO, Pauline's husband..

Yes and in my view I wouldn't see this as 'getting away' with it as there was some punishment involved

The last time we saw Elizabeth she walked out of Nick's place and Eric followed her - I don't remember him taking the typewriter with him!

Oh now Anthony Cotton's acting is definitely a crime- you'd have to don a black cap when passing sentence
If only he'd worn slip-on shoes.

Still wasn't murder though.
IIRC the typewriter ended up in the river at some stage. Luke & Biff later found it.
But he did........slip-on the edge of a cliff shoes! :D:D
