Best: Will Young, Richard Hawley, Tori Amos, David Gilmour.
Worst: Paulo Nutini, Ellie Goulding, James Blunt, Lily Allen.
Say what you like about this man (I can't stand him) but there is no denying he can sing. Which is a shame the talent went to waste on someone so infuriating :o
LOL @ the Elly Jackson stan... Calm it Kermit, don't give yourself a coronary because omg she is just so fantastic and you have to be a moron to disagree...
Anyway, it makes me a proud moron! Considering the tone of her voice is enough to grate cheese, the high notes aren't even high, the low notes aren't that low and all the ones inbetween are head voiced annoyances because she barely possesses a chest voice - I'd strongy disagree.
Anyway, what "recent crop" would you be talking about? That doesn't even make sense when you think about it logically!
Cheryl Cole, Britney Spears, Gaga, Sugababes, Girls Aloud, and the other whole host of auto tune sluts I can go on if you want!
Beyonce & Alicia the most.
Overated-well where to start.Overated to me is someone who thinks they're special or the media would have you believe they are special.
I know Cheryl Cole gets a lot of stick but I'm not aware of her making any claims about her vocals.
Jerome, didn't you notice that Strictly Irish said that she thought Pixie was awful. So it is her opinion and your opinion that she wasn't. I must say I am inclined to agree that she was awful.
There are many more singers I think are great, but he's just tremendous.
Ian Brown is another one of my favourites cause sometimes he sounds so bad he is fantastic, and then sometimes he is just fantastic cause he's so good.
Is this only confined to 'pop' vocalists.I don't think you will find that many good vocalists in pop at all - I find the majority of them to have a very narrow vocal range.Once they have got that 'hit' they seem to keep to that sound & become parodies of themselves (there are a hand full of exceptions of course - seem to be getting rarer these days).Oh! well I have a go anyway (sort of confined to pop)
best - Lou Rhodes (most of you lot probably haven't even heard of her even). There are loads of others I would probably rate above her though - but probably would never have broad appeal.
worst - Ke$ha (Cheryl Cole a close second)

So to me that James Blunt.
The show was utter crap. I only watched it that night because of Pixie who made it bearable. She was utterly beautiful in both appearance and voice.
Exactly the same for me, with perhaps the addition of Finn Andrews in most talented and many, many others in least.
She wason Jonathan Ross not too long ago either, and she was awful. But she was good on Live Lounge, so maybe it's crap studio sets???
Having said that, normally everybody are good on JR (not sure about DOI, don't watch it), so maybe it's Pixie...

Not sure about the least at the moment.

Oh! yes she was.
Seriously anybody with broad / multi genre interest in singers would never consider her to have anything more than average vocals.
Great shout that.
For Me - Most=Chino Moreno
Least=Hayley Williams
