Too many toilet visits at night

Hi everyone
Sorry if this thread is a bit random in places but I'm lacking a lot of sleep this morning
I'm starting to think my lab may have a bowel issue or if not, some advice on how to change a VERY annoying habit.
She was on some Premium dog food which seemed to give her bad diarohea so we switched her back to Science diet and its improved although the poos are not quite solid yet.
To cut a long story short, she needs to go at least two times a night, some times up to four or more times! I'm normally in bed by 10pm and just as I fall asleep the fun begins.
Last night I had a hard game of squash and found myself in bed around 9:30pm. Had trouble falling asleep but finally drifted off only to be woken up at 11:05pm (She barks once at the back door). I'm not complaing that she barks to be let out, thats a good thing in my books and I don't mind getting up in the middle of the night from time to time.
Downstairs I go, let her out.
Thing is, she squats, does her business and then remains squatting whilst slowly walking around the garden - I call it the walking poo!
Funny at first but when I'm picking up poo all over the garden the next day it gets a little annoying.
Back inside and back to bed.
1:50AM "Bark"
Downstairs I go, let her out.
She squats and stays squatting for about two minutes.......nothing appears to come out (next day I will find tiny worm size poos).
Back to bed.
4am: "Bark"
Same as above
This can't be right?!!
Once she was house trained as a pup she slept through the night. Even my 7 month old son is sleeping straight until 5am.
Some times I'll go downstairs around 4am to make the little one's bottle and by the time he has been fed and we're back in bed....."bark".
I could leave our back door slighlty ajar so she can come and go. Have done this before and never had a problem. But, it's not very safe and in Winter its a definite no can do.
I do ensure she goes out before we go to bed but this doesn't appear to help.
I'm thinking of taking her to the vet but am not sure what I can actually say? "She craps too much at night"
I wonder if having her anal glands cleaned would help?
I really need to break this habit/routine of hers or I will never sleep again
Help.

Could of course be something else entirely but doesn't hurt to get her checked out IMO.
Thanks molliepops, I think a trip to the vet is on the cards for sure. Can't go on like this.
Our 2 get a bowl of food each in the morning which is their ration for the day. Most of it is gone by lunchtime, gets lifted and for their dinner at about 4pm they get what's left in the bowls.
The poos have pretty much stopped by mid-afternoon and they get let out once before bed time for a poo which doesn't always get done.
That's all until they get let out in the morning.
Maybe the Science Diet is too rich........We feed our's a Sneyd's Wonderdog variant and it has never given them diaorrhea, but when I couldn't get it from the supplier once, I bought something else from our vet - can't remember what but it cost £30 a bag  - which did not agree with them, making the boxer sick and loose.
Also when you are switching her diet are you doing it slowly and gradually not just one thing the one day and a new type of food the next as this may also affect things.
The swatting about the garden a lot when going and nothing more 'coming out' could indicate a touch of colitis.
A good long walk to tire her out and encourage poos!! just before bed may help as well!
But a trip to the vets for some general advice and to put your mind at ease, explaining all of this may help!
I hope she's ok & that you can go back to getting a good night's sleep. Let us know how you get on.
Thanks again

All good advice, particularly on how to switch diets, the symptoms sound very similar to what our dog suffered when she had colitis, one thing to double check is that there isn't any blood in the stools, even a small amount and you should get to the vets.
