The next Eponine? Which one is that?

No More Tears is the Nancys by a country mile for me. I thought it suit a lot of them vocally, especially Rachel, Fran and Jodie. Also you could see why the song was used, it did relate to the character of Nancy.

For Nobody Does It Better again by a country mile it's Abi, my favourite Maria, did what she does best and makes you believe every word she sings.

Sam is the rumour, with some suggestions its confirmed.

Are you tone deaf? Abi was awful singing Nobody does it better!! Whereas 17 year old Stephanie blew her out of the water with her flawless performance . There is absolutely no comparison. STEPHANIE IS FANTASTIC.

I think Stephanie was better vocally, Abi, better actress.

    They were both good.

I would give it to Abi as well. I don't think it was Abi's best performance (there were some off-notes), and technically Stephanie sang it better, but Abi acted and presented it better.

I'm sure she'll be great, but I can't see it, she looks too modern. But she was amazing in Cabaret so I'll definately try and see her if this is confirmed.

That is your opinion, I disagree that does not make me wrong just different. I will always look for the actor before the singer and Abi is one of the best from all series.

I think Abi's voice is much warmer. There's a harshness to Stephanie's - though in fairness, she's very young so won't have the depth to her voice that someone older (Abi was in her 20s in HDYSAPLM) has. Ditto, the acting. Abi had just finished a three year degree course in performing arts. Stephanie isn't old enough to start a degree course yet. So Abi had all that acting experience (and life experience) to bring to her performances.

That's it! I could never put my finger on what I liked about Abi, but that's it. Abi reminds me a bit of Jodie, and on OTR Steph, you always feel they've been through what their singing about, whether they have or not.

Abi can act really really well. She's played everything from a medieval girl friend to a US Fame academy student, to an Austrian head in search of its body, to a tomboy American girl from the wilds, to Mrs Roosevelt's secretary to Peggy in Hi De HI.

Its a interesting choice if true. Modern is one issue, the emotional content is another, acting a street urchin is another and its going to be interesting how they set it up so that Marius doesn't look insane going for wimpy Cosette rather than an Eponine who looks like she would grace FHM's cover.

Interesting choice. I wouldn't have thought she was up to the acting, but then she has done Cabaret in the meantime and by all accounts was fantastic. Her vocal range/belt range is brilliant for Eponine - which is important.

Abi's one I would love to see live. I've got a mental list and she one of three Marias (along with Aoife and Leanne) on it. Along with another two Josephs (I've seen Daniel, twice) and seven Nancys (I've seen Sam) And atm three Dorothys - Jenny, Jessica and Steph.

I cringe at the thought of Sam being Epionie, she apparently did a decent job singing Musical Theatre in Cabaret tho! ...

For me, nobody will beat Sarah Larks Maybe this time.

I thought Sam's would be a pale imitation but it was amazing, but then it probably helped she was playing Sally Bowles at the time while Sarah was in a TV studio in a horrible green dress.

Coming soon possibly to a town near you? This is Abi's second big national tour after Fame.

Aoife has always worked in the WestEnd so far. Saw Leanne in Les Mis and wish someone would get her back in view too. She has left some great youtubes behind which are in the Maria thread. Aoife has something from everything she''s done on her site.

As long as it sounds like she's struggling with the emotions and letting rip rather than perfectly soaring through the notes?

:( Nope it's not coming north of the border.

I'm planning to come down to London to see Wicked at some point and I want to see Legally Blonde too. If Daniel or Ben would hurry up and get their asses cast in another west end show I could actually start planning when.

I was never a big fan of Sam but was surprised how well she did in Cabaret, yeah its an easy enough role (when in a good production and this was ) but the wife talked me into going as Sam was in it but she did well and Bowled ;) us over.

Credit must always be given, yeah it might have been a little M.T but when you live nowhere near the West End thats not a big issue. :)

Siobhan - Songbird is one of my favourite performances from all the series. I remember being so moved at the time, it's sort of stuck with me :)

There were a lot in the last show so here goes:

"Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend"

    Connie (Maria)

    Steph (OTR)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zO1RSQVuExw

    "The Man That Got Away"

    Jessie (IDA)

    Lauren (OTR)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLul_02_LtM

    "Mr. Bojangles"

    Sarah (IDA)

    Stephanie (OTR)

    Craig, Daniel and Lee (ADWD)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHC_FU0M0Mc

    Dorothys (OTR)

And just for fun, here's two bonus ones from Canadian Maria

    "Cabaret" (Elicia)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCrt6e9oypY

"Don't Rain On My Parade" (Top 6 Group Song)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oe-Mjn1aPqc

    My votes

"Diamonds"--Connie, hands down. I love Steph, but Connie really sold it!

"Man That Got Away"--Jessie. Her best song on IDA, I think.

    "Bojangles"--Sarah, easily.

"Cabaret"--This is hard because I like all of them, but I'm giving the edge to Rachel for the sheer intensity of it.

"Don't Rain On My Parade"--Probably the Marias, but it's close.

Don't Rain On My Parade - The Josephs version is the best for me because of Daniel whose voice really suits swing music
The Man That Got Away - Jessie easily her best performance
Mr Bojangles - Sarah was the best, but it should really be sung by a man.

    From Hayley

yeh that was really good. Still remember the way she sang "THERE IS NOTHING.... SADDER THAN..."

Lauren seemed unable to connect with the song in a meaningful way. It was just good vocally, nothing more.

:D The angry bit:p Jessie was such a stiff actress but, it worked so well during that. Andrew's face said it all.

I think if somebody hadn't seen Jessie's version, Lauren's version would have been brilliant but like you said, to me it was just a great vocal and that's all.
