David Grout survived a warzone with terrorists, but can't survive thugs in his own country. Absolutely disgraceful.:(

RIP Lad
An absolute tragedy and a terrible loss to his friends and family.
RIP David. Your gonna be missed by many.
They really is something not right with this country and it's been heading that way for a long time.
Uneducated morons getting away with everything and breeding more of the same.

So it wasn't just a random attack by the sound of it.
Although we don't know how the row started.
Assault with intent? Surely when the victim dies it becomes manslaughter?
The attack I saw start, the guys began by telling the lad that all soldiers were just pussies without their guns, followed by a load of pushing, getting progressively rougher. We all waded in at that point, I was convinced they'd beat the guy up badly.
Sadly, it happens every week. Alcohol is usually the root cause.
How would they know someone is a soldier just from looking at them though? Presumably people from the forces don't wear any identifying kit when they're socialising?
and when I think that, on another story, a judge is being investigated for calling 2 guilty youths 'scum'...... sometimes there is no other word.
You don't live in a forces town, then, do you. Trust me it's obvious. They are neat and tidy, no trousers at half mast. Short back and sides, stand upright, no slouching, no hands in pockets. Clothes usually not of the primark persuasion. You can't spend much money in Helmand, you spend it when you get home. Sadly not in this case.
Ghurkas, perhaps?
I don't know about MAW's lot but my soldiers were easily identifiable as such, their trapping kit normally consisted of jeans, checked shirts and Kickers shoes, coupled with short hair and a mix of lads all from different parts of the country it's not hard to work out. Plus if you live in a military town it is even easier.
I have also seen several attacks on soldiers by locals for no reason more than they think the soldiers steal all of "their" girls...
yes i remember when I lived in Portsmouth as a teenager, the locals were very anti the visiting sailors, even more so the foreign ones for some reason
I've never been an advocate of National Service but it makes you wonder if the pond life that had done this had had some military service they would appreciate what these fellas do!
My thoughts are with his family and friends
