1st equal (being diplomatic here): Jesus and Mohammed.
3rd: The Buddha 4th. Chairman Mao
5th Adolf Hitler
6th Michael Jackson
7th Elvis Presley
8th The Beatles
9th Albert Einstein
10th The Virgin Mary
Bit sublime to the ridiculous, but there we are.
I have a T - Shirt that has L and then a picture of Mao but none of my friends got it because they didn't know who Mao was so I am not sure if he is famous enough to be in the top ten (Top Ten should be people everyone over the age of 12 knows )
I am working on the theory that there is an element of reality underneath even though their lives have been heavily embroidered and mythologised.
i could maybe believe in an historic version of arthur but helen of troys pushing it a bit.... i cant believe her story is even vaguely likely. i would put st. peter or even judas iscariot above her

I'm surprised noone has said Pythagoras, surely only people that live in a hole (or are under 10) haven't heard of him.

I was bored before and got thinking about who I regard as the most well-known people that ever lived. Not necessarily the nicest or most deserving of the honour, but the best-known ever. Here's my list, would love to hear yours for a bit of fun!
1. Jesus Christ
2. Adolf Hitler
3. Elvis Presley
4. Princess Diana
5. JFK
6. Michael Jackson
7. Marilyn Monroe
8. Albert Einstein
9. Martin Luther King Jr.
10. John Lennon
If you go back 100 years, Jesus would be the only one in that list that anyone had heard of:)
Jesus? I thought we were talking real people not fictional.
well the majority of people on the planet believe that he did so i guess he's allowed on the list.. besides, harry potter, king arthur and helen of troy also got mentioned
i always thought that amerigo vespucci got a bad deal in the fame stakes. he's the only person to ever have not only one but two continents named after him yet nobody actually has a clue who he is... how the hell did that happen???
